"They say it was the roughest campaign ever in the history of Republican politics, but what you do is you go to sleep for a couple of days and you wake up and you honor [the pledge]," Donald Trump said. (AP Photo) Trump unloads on former GOP opponents who refuse to back him

By GABBY MORRONGIELLO (@GABRIELLAHOPE_) • 6/29/16 5:26 PM SHARE TWEET SMSMore Donald Trump railed against several of his Republican primary opponents on Wednesday night for declining to endorse him in the general election, going so far as to suggest "they should never be allowed to run for public office again."

"I have guys out there and if you really think about it, they're really sore losers," Trump told supporters during a campaign rally in Bangor, Maine.

Trump was referring to at least seven GOP presidential hopefuls who signed a loyalty pledge to support their party's presidential nominee and have since declined to do so. Such candidates include former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, businesswoman Carly Fiorina and Ohio Gov. John Kasich.

"It was a rough campaign," he conceded. "They say it was the roughest campaign ever in the history of Republican politics, but what you do is you go to sleep for a couple of days and you wake up and you honor [the pledge]."

The presumptive Republican nominee continued, claiming that he considered the pledge to be "legally binding" and assuring his supporters that he would have honored it had Kasich, Cruz or any other GOP candidate clinched the nomination instead.

"There are people I don't like or particularly respect on that stage, but I would have honored it," Trump said. "I wouldn't have gone crazy, yelling it from the loudest building."

Trump himself routinely changed his position on the pledge during the primary, threatening more than once to leave the Republican party and launch an indepedent bid.

"But you know what, we have people who haven't honored the pledge and that's a terrible thing," he told the crowd. "They signed a pledge saying they will abide, they will back the candidate of the party and now they sit back and ... they broke their word."

"In my opinion, they should never be allowed to run for public office again because what they did is disgraceful," he added.

Some of the billionaire's former opponents have said that in addition to declining to endorse Trump, they will not attend next month's GOP convention.

Apparently it IS a breach of contract, it is ILLEGAL in many cases but if the delegate does it, somehow it still counts, even if they face repercussions, it doesn’t nullify the vote. Outrageous!

Ted Cruz is a piece of sh*t to me. I am embarrassed to say how much $ I sent him for Senate and Pres before I switched to Trump. His actions since his departure have made me realize he is exactly the NWO puppet I feared last summer after TPP.

So what?

They signed a pledge, expecting to roll over and humiliate him, just to see if he would honor it.

It’s a matter of honor, you sign a pledge, then you honor it.

Again, you’re saying the only way to get elected is by advocating citizenship for the never ending horde of foreign invaders. If you believe that, I can’t help you.

To the E-GOP, the RINO's who's egos are bruised, and all the Sultans of Smart that are too full of themselves to pull the lever for Trump, you know, the Wills etc etc etc. This is how we feel about you not standing behind the candidate like we did when you gave us those liverwurst sandwiches aka Dole, McCain, Romney, don't even get me started on the disappointments within the 2 Bushes.

I believe that the delegates should vote for the winner of their respective state’s primary/caucus. Of course, some state’s are winner take all, while others are proportional and factor in congressional districts. The delegates ought to restricted so that they honor the winner of the majority of the delegates in their state.
The only proof I have as far as the wannabbees supporting the nominee is from when they were asked to raise their hand during one of the debates (IIRC it was the first one hosted by Fox News). All of the other candidates actually raised their hand. Trump, BTW, did not—BUT LATER ACTUALLY DID POST ON SOCIAL MEDIA THAT HE WAS MAKING THE PLEDGE AND LITERALLY PUT IT IN WRITING!!!
I am hoping the RNC backs Trump up and keeps the sore losers from taking any detrimental action against Trump.
While it would be remarkable to deny credentials to the host state Governor Kasich and the second place candidate
Cruz, I think it would send an important signal that party unity is priority number one. Jeb can stay home with the rest of the contrary Bush clan. Who’ll miss Walker, whose campaign was quickly dashed? And, Fiorina has repeatedly demonstrated her disdain for Trump.
Trump has earned profound respect as the party’s standard-bearer and doesn’t deserve to have to tolerate the presence of antagonists who would undermine his chances to the extent of costing him victory in November.
WE CANNOT AFFORD TO HELP KILLARY WIN!!!

>>>:Trump is running against the GOP just as much as he is running against Hillary.:

That’s a really loser strategy, IMHO. I don’t think Trump is that stupid.

Why are you worried about Cruz? He’s in Colorado. He was trying to get the most Conservative candidate through the primary with no money. He succeeded.

Why are you worried about him?

There are only about 125 days before the election. Spend your time walking the precinct and finding Trump supporters who are not registered to vote. Get them registered.

Wish Rubio well in his reelection bid because every seat is going to be needed. Wish Cruz well in getting a few extra Republicans elected in the House and Senate. They no longer have any relevance to the presidential race.

Trump has his work to do. Rubio has his. Cruz has his.

There will not be shown... ever, any large lead by Trump. IT must be blocked, disguised, denied and overed up at all costs, or mischaracterized at any cost. There is massive reasoning for this.

The GOPe members like Ted Cruz and Jeb Bush are early on in the process of attempting to deny Trump any “MANDATE” that could rightly be used to justify finally and fully flushing them out of the party formerly called republican and completely expose their alliance to the ‘more centrist’ aka UNIPARTY supporters that they truly are: Globalists, Socialists, and ultimately a form of FEDERALIST supremacists.

We need to limit the “due process” that interlopers here have in place, to defer their immediate and irrevocable expatriation, expulsion and permanent exclusion from AMERICAN (as in USA) soil.

anchor babies and dual citizenship exceptions, even foreign student visas need to be removed from any of the bogus laws that allow such atrocities populate or inhabit our shores.

we need to put an end to the “traitor import” business/scam.

Tell that to the GOP. They’re the ones undermining Trump every chance they get.

Right, so who are the cruzlims? Who are these “good conservatives” he is drafting? How can he be “conservative” and vote for giving away our sovereignty to a board of unelected foreigners - TPP?

The written pledge idea was a Reince Priebus RNC brainchild. They wanted to get Trump on record as promising not to go third party. Septemebr 2015 or therabout, AFTER the scene you recall.

All the candidates signed the RNC-produced pledge.

rryl Glenn is the one who just won the Colorado primary. It’s s very important race as there are only two Democrat seats in the senate that are being seriously challenged.

Here’s the story...

‘It’s s very important race’

More so than the race for the WH? The next POTUS will decide if the SC tilts far left or conservative for the foreseeable future. Is that not important?
