It was the GOP that destroyed the GOP.
They are not who they said they were, and they have exposed themselves as frauds.
Trump helped to expose some of them for sure, but I am not sure that Trump would have experienced his rise this primary had the GOP done any, even one thing, that it was elected to do.
It totally betrayed its base, and basically spit in the face of anyone who dared to ask why.
And that’s all it wants to do to this very day.
I don’t know if it’s fixable or even worth fixing. The whole damned thing just sucks. it is totally unresponsive to its base, and despises its own base.
Those in power believe their pedigree is better than average hard working Americans. They are aloof, arrogant, egotistical and only care about their own personal WEALTH and POWER. Paul Ryan, Exhibit A
You can’t drain the swamp when district voters think the other district’s
congress critter is the problem, not their own congress critter.
And there-in lies the conundrum.
I guess there will be two empty chairs.
The problem I have with this is the meaning of “brush off”?
Kasich and Cruz can not be “brushing off” Trump until such time as they are refused the speaking engagement.
It has to go down to the wire.
How many of them signed a PLEDGE to support the nominee and then refused to do so ?
Besides, four years ago, Obama was the incumbent, so it is hardly a parallel case.
There is just no way to spin what these candidates are doing as meeting their pledge to “support the eventual nominee of the party”. Every single one of those 16 opponents should have sucked it up, pulled a few of Trump’s policy points they can in good conscience support, and be vocal supporters of Trump citing those points and demurring from any other questions. Certainly they should never utter a single negative word.
Interesting.
An empty chair on stage for each establishment Republican who did not endorse Trump.
[pause]
Filled by a parade of biggest supporters.
Out with the old, in with the new.
Good. Glad they do not want to speak.
Neither has much of a political future outside of their home states and this definitely seals that deal. Good riddance to bad RINOs.
All of the critters in the swamp and the swap itself are the problem.
What happened to the pledge these guys took to support the Republican nominee? Hypocrites.
Cruz and Kasich can have speaking slots, I’m thinking maybe around 5:00 am Eastern time (2:00 am Pacific), how about that?
:)
And 2 of those 3 are backstabbers working to elect their UNIPARTY cohort, the first female president. They are both POS.
How little effort it took, these 2 clowns revealed their character before Trump even had to say a word.
How utterly vile they are, along with their merry band of travelers who are willing to risk 4 more years with this criminal clinton clown show.
Cruz and Kasich speaking at the convention would be more damaging than having Hillary and Warren speak.
Stay home weasels.
Cruz has turned out to be a petty, spiteful child - we may have dodged a bullet when he crashed and burned.
Cruz has turned out to be a globalist after all.
