German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said today that the EU would weather the shock of the British vote to leave the union as he convened crisis talks.
"I am confident that these countries can also send a message that we won't let anyone take Europe from us," he said heading into a meeting in Berlin of his counterparts from the EU's six founding members.

Interesting comment from a nation who has twice forced the rest of the world to take Europe from it, by force of arms.

"I am confident that these countries can also send a message that we won't let anyone take Europe from us," Lol...said as they import millions of Mohammedans who have no intention of assimilating.

I think he will be retooling that statement by Monday.
It brings up memories and suspicions that no one wants to discuss in public. Frau Merkel will say: It is very clear to all, that what my esteemed college meant to say was....”

Historical turning point for Germany. Lets see how the rest of the EU feels about Germany running their countries.
I would say they’re allowing themselves to be taken over by Middle East Muslims, but they’ve been known to gas a few Semites.

No question about it. This is WW3. Germany and its bankers are winning by buying off pols in the other countries sucked into the EU. Their army is the swarms of Muslims and their partner in this endeavor is Turkey.
Maybe taking down the Berlin Wall and reunifying Germany wasn't such a great idea.

reunifying Germany wasn't such a great idea. Neither was opening the door to China.
The Cold War is looking a lot better in retrospect.

The Cold War is looking a lot better in retrospectSure is. Eisenhower left the world in pretty good shape. With lots of warnings that should've been listened to.

Do you want to re-phrase that ???

The EU is finished. This is the Berlin Wall moment. I give it two more years.
The whole EU project was poorly designed and executed anyway. The EU suffered an identity crisis right from the start. Was it a monetary union? An economic and trade union? A political union? How about a military union? These questions remain unanswered. The EU always was we'll figure it out as we go along.
For the Germans, it's back to drawing board to come up with the next "big idea."

I think he would’ve stayed out of a major war in Vietnam too.

I think he would've stayed out of a major war in VN too.Not much doubt. Eisenhower warned about the war-mongering ways of the military-industrial complex. He set up a line and a DMZ that protected South Korea. There hasn't been a strategic thinker who has the resume to be Commander in Chief since.

The big mistake was moving the capital from provincial Bonn to imperial Berlin.

Maybe taking down the Berlin Wall and reunifying Germany wasn't such a great idea. One of my college history professors back in 1971 told the class that if you took down the Berlin Wall, it wouldn't be that long before Germany took over Europe and controlled it, achieving what they previously sought in two world wars. He was exactly right.
