Full title: 'Brexit is proof that Trump will be the next president': 'Anti-immigration' message and shift to the Right that led to UK's seismic break with Europe draws parallels with rise of The Donald

• The UK voted to leave the European Union in an historic referendum • Many on Twitter believe the result is a sign Trump will win in November • They compared the leave campaign's 'divisive' message with Trump's • Others showed concern it will lend credence to Trump's nationalist agenda

...today, he promised close ties between the U.S. and UK if he becomes President, saying: 'A Trump Administration pledges to strengthen our ties with a free and independent Britain, deepening our bonds in commerce, culture and mutual defense'.

Has Hillary made a statement on the results of the vote or is she waiting to be told how the public opinion polls react?

Doesn't matter, it's too late. President Trump already addressed this from an International stage.

I agree that this bodes very well for us in America, and finding a leader like Trump to sit in the oval office.

But many people are also forgetting Duterte. There is a man who signaled a HUGE change that people are sick of the bullsh!t.

With a main reason being lack of babies in the Western world due to effective birth control and materialistic lifestyles. Muslins especially are overbreeding. Far better to keep them confined to their native territories to keep the pressure on for them to have smaller families.

I looked up three cities that I figured would have gone heavily toward “remain”—and they did. London, Oxford, and Cambridge all went 70-75% remain.

Ugh. It isn’t ‘anti immigration’. It is ‘the rule of law’.

Yup. Also, anti-invasion. Perhaps it's time to stop accepting the term “immigrant” or “refugee” to describe many of these people.

It’s not anti-immigration. It’s anti- BAD immigration. A nation has a right to protect itself by only bringing in people that benefit the nation.

You nailed it! The socialists have made non-discrimination into a religious duty that celebrates forcing everyone else down to the lowest common denominator. It's a race to the bottom.

We are against illegal immigration and open borders, not immigration per se.

Agreed. Did not mean to imply otherwise. However, as an earlier post pointed out, the very idea that the U.S. can exercise any choices or preferences whatsoever into who may immigrate here has poisoned the well. It is regarded as egregious discrimination and "racism" to prefer new people with skills, talents, assets, cultural harmoniousness or good character — or to disallow those with none of those prospects.

The start of the end of the EU, NAFTA, and TPP.

From your keyboard to God's ears!!

When it comes to nations, I often think of what happens when there is dysfunction in a family and the family goes to therapy. The therapist's job is to stop the dominant family member from smothering or oppressing all the others. Each family member strives in therapy to become fully developed within his or her own personality and talents, and each must learn to respect the boundaries of all the other family members. This is not to the exclusion of a transcendent ethos like religion, national identity, community membership, etc,, but to prevent the family from having "one opinion, and it's Mom's", or "one way to do things, and it's Dad's", or the child as the center of all family life around whom everything must rotate. I see nations the same way — alliances and even some dependencies are natural and beneficial, but domineering by elites is dysfunctional, extortionate and oppressive, leading inexorably to tyranny.

Can’t see how we are “forgetting” Duterte. He is perhaps another facet of a worldwide pushback, but since he is not directly part of Western Civ, his rise is tangential to this discussion.

One has nothing to do with the other, unless Brits will vote in our election.

Our nation's founding peoples developed a civic culture that led to our independence, Constitution and legal system, which was largely based on English common law. Those values have become so distorted since WWII, in no small part due to the interference of the EU and globalists like Soros and Obama swanning back and forth between the EU and the US, that our natual alliance has been terribly damaged. This reassertion of British identity, borders and culture can only strenghthen the "America First" spirit championed by Trump.

During the past weeks as I have read the comments sections of the Brit papers, there were plenty of Americans posting encouragement to Leave or warning against Remain, and plenty of Brits addressing Americans and urging us to avoid the islamic cultural jihad enabled by the globalists' "borderless" promotions.

Brexit will enable a President Trump to strenghten our historic alliance in trade, defense and culture with the UK. Brexit will enable the UK to enforce its own limitations on immigration and to diminish its current internal pressures to accept shari'a law. Appeasement or surrender to its large islamic minority (far larger percentage than ours) by the UK would either destroy the advisability of our allying with them successfully, or it would hasten our nation's capitulation to islam.
