WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Republican Donald Trump has forgiven nearly $50 million in loans he made to his presidential campaign, he said on Thursday, signaling to donors that future contributions will be used to fight Democrat Hillary Clinton and not to repay himself.
The announcement that Trump will not seek repayment of the loans via contributions came amid concerns from his backers that he does not have enough money to fund his campaign for the Nov. 8 election. He had only $1.3 million in cash to start the month.
"I have absolutely no intention of paying myself back for the nearly $50 million dollars I have loaned to the campaign," the presumptive Republican nominee said in a statement.
The New York developer has suggested he could use more of his personal wealth to help win the White House.
"(Trump) has also said he will contribute significantly more money," Steve Mnuchin, the top fundraiser for Trump's campaign, said in an interview on CNBC earlier on Thursday. Mnuchin was the first to say that Trump would forgive the loans.
Although Trump has said he has "unlimited" personal wealth to fund his White House run, a Reuters review of his financial disclosures suggests he does not have enough cash to see his campaign through to Election Day.
Gaylord Hughey, a Texas-based fundraiser supporting Trump, called Trump's decision to forgive the loans "unprecedented."
"I think it indicates that hes all in and he wants every dollar to be spent toward a successful campaign for the general election," Hughey said.

We've really ramped up the effort this month," Mnuchin said......................Time to get every supporter to contribute...
People need to donate. If Trump supporters would donate up to $100 Trump would have hundreds of millions to fight Hillary. I know that Trump is a billionaire, and the perception is that Trump is wealthy enough to pay his own way, but that simply isn’t the case. A lot of Trump’s wealth is tied up in his businesses. He doesn’t have a lot of liquidity among his assets.
The number of donors is probably as important as the amount donated. Let’s do this. #NeverHillary.
I sent $50 to start out with. I think we need to take a lesson from bernie Sanders on this one. Millions of small donations will add up.
It is very refreshing to watch Trump run his campaign with the intent to WIN. Instead of some lifer politician who spends hundreds of millions of dollars of other peoples money with no real interest in actually winning.
I plan to on payday next week.
The media said: "Look at Hillary! She's got so much money!! Trump doesn't have nearly as much campaign cash!!"
Trump immediately demonstrated an ability to raise a lot of money fast from enthusiastic donors.
And now Trump demonstrates that he has deep pockets and can drop $50M on his campaign if he feels like it.
And the media is like: "What? What?"
With all the money the Clinton grafters have absconded Im sure they did not spend a penny of their own massive fortune on her own a##. How does a politician amass billions being a public servant of the American people?
Trump supporters need to open their purses and wallets and give.
I remember reading an article not long ago about the primaries. Ted Cruz’s campaign manager said they knew Cruz couldn’t win after Trump won the SEC primaries. He stayed in and spent another $60 million for nothing. That’s what career politicians think of our hard earned money.
Just look at Yeb. He spent something like 150 million of other peoples money and he couldn’t even get his mom to vote for him.
How much of the corrupt 375 million Clinton fortune will they put into the Harpy’s campaign?
Once again going after Cruz, and by extension his supporters. Yes, the SEC primary did not go as well as we needed. Cruz himself still saw a route to the nomination, and those of us who voted for Cruz in the prinaries let Trump know that we support full-spectrum conservatism and that he would have to take that into consideration. I do not consider the money And time I donated to the Cruz campaign to be a waste.
“Although Trump has said he has “unlimited” personal wealth to fund his White House run, a Reuters review of his financial disclosures suggests he does not have enough cash to see his campaign through to Election Day.”
See how the MSM lies, while seeming to state facts. They use “wealth” in the first clause, and “cash” in the second. As any accountant will tell you, wealth and cash are not the same thing. Trump might have to sell off some of his assets (wealth) to raise ready cash — but, that does not merit an “although”. They twisted things to make it sound like Trump was lying, or at least exaggerating — yet, there is no reason that both statements cannot be true, at the same time — i.e., plenty of wealth; but an easily-remedied shortage of liquid assets (cash).
He just needs to bring up a new hillary scandal every week. He should stretch the truth just enough so the msm covers in detail. The BS cover the clintons always use works in the courts but not amongst regular people. In the vernacular of the peasantry “is” means “is”.
I have set up a small monthly donation. Just like contributing to the Freepathon. Having it donated monthly helps them know what’s coming in.
All need to support / stand by our site and our candidate !
And what Hillary and Sanders have spent.
Which candidate might have the edge on economics and government waste.
Trump is indeed talented in many fields.
It does matter how much each individual contributes. What matters is we let the Media and public know that We The People support this man. Not just with our presence at rallies, not just with our vote but we are all in— even though he doesn’t NEED our money, we will contribute that too!
WE STAND WITH TRUMP We trust him to manage it well!
I donated twice this week, and will give more as the campaign progresses.
We all need to have skin in the game.
sent 100 today. it is a big deal folks. the big money is not there my tweet to eric and don was appeal for money from us trust us.
