Never liked Led Zeppelin and never liked Stairway to Heaven. Sounded like a druggie song.

That's how I remember it. High school in the late 70's. Summer evenings in a backyard with friends who inhaled. Listening to it blare out of speakers as wisps of blue smoke drifted skyward.

Pop and rock is basically the same 20 odd chords

<<><><

LOL.

So true. The 4 or 5 chords they know in 4 keys.

The bluegrass guys know better ... 3 chords and the truth :-)

Does this mean that they can still play it on the radio for the next 45 years?

Background: I turned 12 in 1970.

Really liked the first 3 zep records - really disliked them after that.

As a high schooler, the local rock station played StH every morning at the same time - my wake up time coincedentally.

I placed the clock radio across the room so I had to get up to turn it off.

I knew the plaintiffs case was lost when I’d heard yesterday on BBC World Service that the plaintiff’s lawyer had Robert Plant on the stand and asked him if he didn’t remember a moment in 1970 when he personally met members of the band Led Zeppelin is accused of stealing from at a nightclub famous for hosting rock shows.

Robert Plant replied he absolutely didn’t remember anyone he’d hung out with during those days. The courtroom exploded into laughter while the plaintiff’s attorney stood there flaring his nostrils.

Someone on the jury must have been a plant.

So they decided to turn the page.

Rock music in the glory days after original rock and roll waned is primarily rooted in black delta blues and rural white country or religious

Prolly some classical intro and meandering Jazz in jam bands and steely dan

And they are influenced by what they hear

I figure Spirit who I like influenced Zep who I really like

A settlement was offered some suspect but the Wolfe estate and their lawyer went for the big payday based on this 60-150 million dollar value they pulled from midair

Plant is a raconteur and then some which explains how come he’s gotten into so many panties out here in rural southern Nashville where I live and he is half the time

He’s a dog but he’s very likable and the jury warmed to him

Oh well

I still think John Paul Jones is the best technical musician/composer of the lot.

If you look at a lot of Pop, Country, or Blues Music, so many either borrowed or even stole certain chords, Riffs or whatever, anybody could bring suit against anyone.

Led Zeppelin won the suit probably because of sentimentality and being better known or a lot of subjective reasons. They won and don’t have to share or give up royalties.

In point of fact, “Beck’s Bolero” was written by Jimmy Page. So.........

"Love Hurts" by Nazareth. My favorite Nazareth song, by far, and I urge people to Youtube it, is "Jet Lag."."Driving down a Detroit freeway..."
