Voting is under way in a historic referendum on whether the UK should remain a member of the European Union or leave. A record 46,499,537 people are entitled to take part, according to provisional figures from the Electoral Commission. Polling stations opened at 07:00 BST and will close at 22:00 BST. It is only the third nationwide referendum in UK history and comes after a four-month battle for votes between the Leave and Remain campaigns. In common with other broadcasters, the BBC is limited in what it can report while polls are open but you can follow the results as they come in across the BBC after polls close on Thursday evening.

What’s the latest ?
Nothing yet.
No voting machines - just paper ballots. And, personally, I really don’t think fraud is a major concern. People can watch the ballots being counted and they are pretty clear.
Are the ballots being counted by hand or machine?

What gives me a little hope is the poll that about 80 percent of Brits were concerned about saying what they really felt because of being afraid called a racist.
Btw. You are a royalist, even though an Aussie.
Time to break up the UK?
Funny, as we have more EU integration we have more EU internal seperatism.
thank you for that info.
Counted by Hand. :)
Yes, I am a Monarchist. So are a lot of Australians. We had a referendum in 1999 to become a Republic. We retained the Monarchy.
If the “remain” side wins, the good news for them will be that they won the election. The BAD news for them will be that they won the election.
Nigel Farage will be the opposition.
By hand, although machines can be used to check the count (if a machine count shows a major discrepancy from the hand count, the hand count can be redone).
Another (exit?) poll:

Gibraltar reports 83.65% turnout.
Skynews is saying various polls have the ‘remain’ with a slight lead, even though ZERO votes have actually been counted.
Vote fraud is so common here in the states that it’s assumed to be the norm.
Yes, Trump is having to fight everyone but ‘we the people’.
When will we hear news of your exit polls (if they do those).
Your leaving the EU would be not only great for you but could help pave the way for change here as well.
Fraud can certainly happen in the British system, but it would be very difficult to do it in the counting room after the election - postal votes would be the most vulnerable area.
I still prefer paper hand-counted ballots because even though subject more to individual human error, or even individual mischief, the effect tends to to be small, whereas the electronic systems, though reducing unintentional errors, can be massively corrupted by very few individuals.
So I like the process I’m seeing in UK tonight.
I posted this on the other live thread but no one seems to notice: there will be no exit polls. Various pollsters will make other polls trying to emulate exit polls. The bias in those polls may be even higher than normal exit polls, but so far it looks like a narrow win for Remain. :-(
bttt
Holding vigil for our sister nation in Freedom.
Gibraltar has called : 20171.Total. 19322 Remain.
