I know of at least four people who carry in the Mass I attend. If a shooter shows up I know that the Army vet who carries is my first hope. The AA lady with the gun in her purse is my last option. I may simply pass my weapon on to Mr. M who is former army and a better shot. But it will be there.

Can’t fight back if you’re in one of those “Gun Free “ zones since you don’t have a weapon. Yep.

There are situations where there are no good options.
It is best to try and stay away from them.

According to the RNC all you have to do is lube up, huddle/piddle in place, embrace the koran and shout ‘alluh akfart’. It gets applause from the media and demoncrats every time. Just ask John McStain.

If you’re going to die anyway, try and take as many of the enemy as you can with you.

The last thing you want to do in an active shooter event is to pull your gun out and go hunting for the shooter. If there are other concealed gun carriers in the attack location, they may shoot you. If the police show up and you are running around with a gun, they will probably shoot you. Remember that no one knows who you are. The responders are looking for someone with a gun and you match that description. Unlikely. The more likely scenario is the terrorist starts shooting and someone who is carrying takes out the shooter.

Christina Grimmie's brother tackled a shooter at the Plaza in Orlando the night before. The killer was armed with two handguns, loaded magazines, and a knife. The brother could have been shot; instead the killer shot himself. He fought back and doubtlessly saved many lives
I do not fault the victims in the Pulse mass shooting as instincts would impel you to freeze and flee. I wasn't there so hate to second guess anyone. And some did give their lives for others. If anyone tried to fight back even if unarmed while the killer was distracted, we don't know.
Theoretically it could have been done if not under direct fire. Also if the police could have punched more holes in the building, it could have thrown off the shooter and not just gained entry but a porthole of sorts with which to kill the shooter. That is assuming there could have been more armored vehicles or robots. I don't get why the police let these things go on for so long; people insist that if we read the timeline we will see why.
Maybe all people could think what they could try to do which would be harder with more shooters. Would I lie on the floor wounded but not totally incapacitated while the killer came back around and fired more shots to ensure death or could I have made a last-ditch attempt to grab a leg or do something to throw the killer off guard to try to save myself and others? Probably I wouldn't but maybe some would.
If shooting starts, maybe grab something, anything for an improvised weapon and then make your next move. Anything you try to do requires some thought even though in a panic.

My first thought was of the guys on the airplane on 9/11 saying “Let’s Roll”. A lone gunman can only shoot so many people at once if they are charging him. Even if one life is saved, that’s at least one.

http://www.activekillerdefense.com/ It's a Krav Maga based training approach. It's not perfect, but when you either fight or die, these folks can teach you the fighting part.

My first defense is to stay out of Sanctuary Cities. Just moved way far away from, ‘The People’s Republik of Madistan.’
It is RIPE for the picking. They (Liberals) have built it and they (Radicals) are already there...

Never go anywhere without a gun. When will we learn. Glock 17. Great. It would have saved 30 deaths of innocent people in Orlando, Ban Wahhabis— not guns. Stop these insane “gun free zones” . Te last three slaughters by wahhabi sect sunnis were in “gun free zones” Can we learn here? There is a clue!!

Neither. Don't go to bars or socialize with those who indulge in abominable activities.

I’ve been through the active shooter training, and we recently had a drill on it. People complained that the room we sheltered in made us all sitting ducks, and I looked around and pointed out that there were plenty of weapons in that room.
With a little imagination, almost anything can be a weapon.
Which, come to think of it is why gun control would never work... even if liberals were able to achieve 100% gun control, we still have an endless variety of weapons.

In 2014, a guy at Seattle Pacific University waited until the murderer was reloading his shotgun, then jumped him and kept him down until help arrived. It probably depends on the situation, but instead of running, one should look for an opportunity to rush the shooter if possible.

I was confronted with a gunman intent on killing quite a few of us in the building about 23 years ago. I headed for him with his rifle cocked and was able to control the weapon with only one discharge. I know what the hell I'd do and have already done it. Couch quarterbacks can only say what they think they'd do but it happened so fast I only had time to think where his discharges would go depending upon which way I turned his rifle. My decision was split second and I carry the scars on my arm from where he tried to get another bullet into the chamber but my arm and fingers were in the mechanism. Afterwards I was sick but saved several people.
