The U.S. Southern Baptist Convention adopted a resolution on Tuesday repudiating the Confederate battle flag as an emblem of slavery, marking the latest bid for racial reconciliation by Americas largest Protestant denomination.

Just wait until they repudiate Washington, Jefferson, Henry et al...
They might at some point even repudiate Christianity itself. All that hater stuff you know.
I have never heard of any church flying the battlle flag.
Christian flag, Old Glory, State flag and maybe a flag with the church’s logo but that is it.
This a perfect example of quick approval of an irrelevant issue.
Why, pray tell, did SBC get involved in this? Don’t they have better things to do?
That makes sense. /s
Care about Southern Heritage preservation? Have GGGradad’s who fought honorably for the South? Wanna fight political correctness and the tyrannical push to erase American history?
Consider joining SCV.
I am already a member.
Been one since I was in high school.
I’ve NEVER seen, heard, read anything about the confederacy or it’s flag in any Southern Baptist church. I was born in the deep south 84 years ago. I have lived and worshiped all over this great country. The SBC appears to be getting on a politically correct band wagon that has wobbly wheels.
I have no idea my guess they are looking for support from the Millennial Safe space crowd.
PLEASE tell me where you’ve seen a Baptist church flying a Confederate flag??????
Or any church, for that matter!
In ALL my days of attending Baptist churches in the South, I never remember seeing anything even resembling this.
Pretty damn proud of my Southern Heritage.
“Those things that hinder to Gospel need to be set aside . . .”
I am afraid St. Paul’s place in the Bible will not survive the discovery that he wrote Ephesians 6:5.
“I have lived in Texas all my life and attended all sorts of churches, from independent Baptist to Episcopalian. I have never seen a Confederate flag in any of these churches.”
Then a resolution calling for it to not be flown will not affect you in any way.
“Anglo-Southern culture is as much a part of their heritage as African-American culture is part of the heritage of historically black denominations.”
The church is called to spread the gospel, not to promote “Anglo-southern culture”. And in the western US, a number of SBC churches do not include “southern” in their name because it drives people away.
It’s relatively new actually at this level
Just 10-12 years ago they were openly against amnesty for illegals
About the only sect to openly say so
Now recently they nominated a black figurehead and so forth
I’m done with them
I’m 58 and have been southern baptist all my life and from Mississippi where the flag still flies proudly for now
I have never seen a confederate flag fly down here from any church period my entire life including during the turbulent 1960s
And neither have you
So quit race baiting and pretending it’s for God
You’re doing it for you
It’s what you do my man
Concern troll much?

Why doesn’t he explain his personal perspective
I don’t hide mine and neither do you
He’ll likely summon others....the usual suspects
Btw for accuracy
The largest denominations in Antebellum Mississippi were Methodist Presbyterian Episcopal/Baptist (tie) in that order
Louisiana was of course Catholic
Upper South morec Anglican and Congregational
The largest schism in the Baptists down here was not over slavery or secession ..they pretty much stuck together but rather over the Restoration movement which came after.....Goodpasture and Harding etc
Baptists and Presbyterians and DOC and Methodist left in droves to follow the more rigid many of whom had been abolitionist leaning fwiw
As a result of this, I am no longer a Southern Baptist. I revere my ancestors and these modern day turncoats can go to hell.

Get over yourself. If you’ve never seen a Confederate flag in a church, this resolution cannot affect you. And I’ve already posted that I’ve never seen one.
So...what bothers you?
The only churches affected by this would be ones that ARE flying a Confederate flag, and it isn’t even binding on them! So what has your panties in a wad?

Really? Care to back it up? Or is bearing false witness acceptable in the SBC churches you are a member of?
