Department of Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson said Tuesday that passing gun control laws is now "part and parcel of homeland security" in an interview on CBS This Morning.
In the segment which was flagged by Politico, Johnson said this was the first time he had vocalized such a belief publicly. President Obama and congressional Democrats have made a renewed push for gun control laws in the wake of the Orlando terrorist attack on a gay nightclub that left 49 people dead.

Jeh Johnson wants to disarm you. The Omar Mateens can shoot you up all they want.
Does that sound like Homeland Security is keep you safe? Not me.
it seems this US government’s sole purpose is to disarm all Americans and they won’t stop until they succeed.
Story goes she came up with that name while in the baffroom.
I agree, the name “Homeland Security” sounds sort of Nazi/Communist to me. I very much prefer what it used to be called which was “Civil Defense.” I rather hope that Donald Trump will change the name back as well as reverse many of its duties.
Remind Jeh that the worst mass shooting was at Wounded Knee and that the Federales shot-up a few hundred unarmed men, women, and children.

Just another reminder that Homeland Security causes far more problems than it solves, and is clutching at straws to justify its existence.
“We’ve gotta protect our phoney baloney jobs, gentlemen!”
No. The “G” was mistaken for a “J”
Jeh? More like ‘Meh’!
David Rutz ... a putz
“So, I guess that means that VIPR Teams will now be expanded, and authorized to detain citizens in their vehicles at car tunnels, ports, truck weigh stations, rest areas, and special events, checking for weapons?”
I had to look at the link you provided to re-familiarize myself with what the VIPR teams are. One of the purposes mentioned for the deployment of VIPR teams was cited as follows:
“To create a calm atmosphere and sense of overall protection by their overt presence and coordination.”
LOL! Yeah, that’s the ticket! Deploying a group of agents all garbed in the latest tacti-cool dress and armed for combat to a bus station, train station, or stopping cars on the highway, and then physically searching everyone is most definitly going to “create a calm atmosphere”. It’s interesting to note that the source for that statement came from a 2011 TSA publication titled “Building Security Force Multipliers” which has since been taken down from the TSA website.
Would you have preferred President Al Gore? Or President Joh Kerry?
Bush was not a terrible president although DHS was certainly a terrible idea but I do not think he should rot in prison for it.
On the other hand, W, as well as Jeb, could have saved Terri Schiavo’s life. Worse, W had nothing to lose by doing so.
To me, not saving Terri Schiavo’s life was the worst crime, by far, of the Bush family. And for that, even more than DHS, no Bush should ever be elected to public office again.
Jeh Johnson is a joke appointed by a joke president. I can’t wait for all these a-holes to be gone next January.
The government’s solution to all problems: gut the constitution.
“Remind Jeh that the worst mass shooting was at Wounded Knee and that the Federales shot-up a few hundred unarmed men, women, and children.”
Exactly. Wounded Knee was estimated to have killed between 150-300 men, women, and children. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wounded_Knee_Massacre
Coming in second place would be the Mormon attack on an emigrant wagon train known as the Mountain Meadows Massacre, estimated to have killed between 100-150 men, women, and children. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mountain_Meadows_massacre
History will now show the “Pulse Massacre” to come in third with 49 killed.
“Does that sound like Homeland Security is keep you safe?”
This federal government not only refuses to stop an ongoing third-world invasion but facilitates it, sues states that try to protect their citizens and is sued by Border Patrol agents who demand that they be allowed to do their jobs.
Now they want to deny us our God-given right to protect ourselves. Talk about mortgage and homes, sickness in our bones all we want, but they are on thin ice.
“He did not have an ar15.”
Please, do tell...
I voted for George W. Bush in 2000 or 2004. I would never have wanted ozone man Al Gore or the French looking John ‘effin Kerry.
But Bush fooled us. His response to the September 11th attacks was to declare war on the rights, freedoms and civil liberties of the American people.
Remember when he let his Saudi friends fly out of the country the day after the attacks, while the rest of us were grounded?
Remember how he called Islam a “religion of peace?” (More like a religion of pieces). Remember when he paid a visit to a mosque a week after the September 11th attacks? I do.
And then W. greatly increased muslim immigration to America in the aftermath of the attacks.
Then, he failed to secure our borders. Illegals kept on with their stampede across our border, while the American people are fondled and degraded at American airports by the TSA, which Bush signed on to.
Then, he tried to push through amnesty for these illegals, arrogantly saying, “See you at the signing.”
Then there was the war in Iraq, where our troops were hamstrung and endangered by ridiculous rules of engagement.
These primaries have shined the light on the fact that the GOPe and the democrats are all one party, the Uniparty. The GOP establishment and the dems are all co-opted and corrupted.
Don’t even get me going about Terri Schiavo. It bothered me that her own mother, who wanted to take care of her daughter, had no say in the matter. Only her worthless “husband,” who already had another woman.
Another thread explained it was a sig sauer rifle that kinda looks like an ar15.
But the media thinks everything is an ar15.
