Florida Bishop Blames Orlando Massacre on Catholic ‘Contempt’ for Homosexuality
Breitbart ^ | Jun 14, 2016 | THOMAS D. WILLIAMS

The Catholic Bishop of St. Petersburg, Fla, has blamed Catholic disapproval of homosexual acts for the brutal slaughter of 49 people in the Pulse nightclub on Sunday.

In a blogpost Monday, Bishop Robert Lynch said that Catholicism “targets” and “often breeds contempt for gays, lesbians and transgender people.” The seed of contempt, he said, turns into hatred, “which can ultimately lead to violence.” Unless this attitude changes, he states, “we can expect more Orlandos.”

In his post, the bishop made no attempt to explain how a 29-year-old Muslim who never stepped foot in a Catholic Church would have been motivated to carry out his deed by a supposed Catholic “contempt” for homosexuality.

It is “religion,” Lynch wrote, “including our own, which targets, mostly verbally, and also often breeds contempt for gays, lesbians and transgender people. Attacks today on LGBT men and women often plant the seed of contempt, then hatred, which can ultimately lead to violence.”

In his statement, Bishop Lynch also takes issue with modern interpretations and applications of the Second Amendment.

“Our founding parents had no knowledge of assault rifles which are intended to be weapons of mass destruction,” he said. In crafting the second amendment to the Constitution, “they thought only of the most awkward of pistols and heavy shotguns.”

Michael Schiavo’s second “marriage” is invalid, since he murdered his first wife.

He was already shacked up with the second “wife” while he was fighting to murder Terri.

No bishops or priests are going to drive me from the Catholic Church and the Eucharist and Confession.

There’s been more horse sh*t written about this event in the past two days than has been written about any other event in two years.

Bishop Lynch’s comments are disappointing and extremely offensive to the millions of Catholics who would never be violent or incite violence against anyone regardless of sexual orientation, race, gender or religion. Perhaps the Bishop speaks for himself. The phone number for the Diocese of St. Petersburg is 727-344-1611. Of course, you’ll be directed to voice mail.

“Your Archdiocese takes a percentage of the funds that are donated to the parish. That is not voluntary.”

That is true only in some dioceses. It’s called a “cathedraticum.”

It does not exist in my diocese.

If you live in a diocese that has it, you can satisfy your obligation to support the Church by giving to good charities.

There is no diocesan tax or “cathedraticum” in many dioceses. It does not exist in my diocese.

Give to The Remnant if your diocese is corrupt.

St. Petersburg, Fla. BISHOP ROBERT LYNCH
This spring, as police hunted for the Rev. Robert Schaeufele, the bishop refused to give prosecutors information about church officials’ recent questioning of the priest. Father Schaeufele resigned from a parish in April and moved out of state after the diocese confronted him with abuse allegations. Officers found him in Michigan and charged him with sexually battering two 11-year-old boys in the 1980s. A diocesan attorney has said Father Schaeufele admitted he “crossed boundaries” with minors. Last year, the diocese paid $100,000 to its former spokesman to settle claims that Bishop Lynch had sexually harassed him. The bishop characterized the payment as a severance package. The former spokesman, Bill Urbanski, said he initially appreciated Bishop Lynch’s lavish gifts - stereos, cameras, upscale clothes. But he began to feel increasingly uncomfortable when Bishop Lynch would touch and massage him, or would walk around naked in their hotel room during trips. Bishop Lynch described the matter as a misunderstanding: “I did not intend anything. We were close friends.” A diocesan investigation, led by three close Lynch aides, found no evidence to back Mr. Urbanski’s allegations of advances. Mr. Urbanski said investigators never interviewed him.

Live in a glass house....

I support my parish by volunteering and by donations. I will continue to work and donate to support my parish.

I am a devout Catholic. My faith is very important to me.

The problem with that is that if everyone did it there would be no parish.

I will continue to volunteer and donate to support my parish.

“The hierarchy are protectors and promoters of homosexuality.”

To the degree to which that is still true, you can lay the blame at the feet of the Soviets and their sponsor.

Do you agree with Bishop Lynch’s most recent statement?

“The “if everyone did that” argument is meaningless unless everyone does that.”

If I did that, it would weaken the parish that I sacrifice to support.

To the extent that others followed my example it would further weaken the parish.

Absolutely! After all, the killer was a very reverent Catholic Muslim, and "Alla Akbar" is a well-known Catholic blessing.

I think it's Latin or something.
