A top football official in Moscow has praised the Russian fans involved in violence over the weekend in Marseille, saying they had defended their country’s honour and should be forgiven.
“I don’t see anything wrong with the fans fighting,” Igor Lebedev wrote on Twitter. “Quite the opposite, well done lads, keep it up!”
Lebedev, who sits on the executive committee of the Russian football union, is an MP from the nationalist Liberal Democratic party and the deputy chairman of the Russian parliament.
“I don’t understand those politicians and officials who are criticising our fans. We should defend them, and then we can sort it out when they come home,” Lebedev wrote in a series of tweets.

I went to a fight and a soccer game broke out.
A friend of mine says the Russians are assholes, they know they are assholes, and they get off on being assholes. And they drink a lot.
Which really isn’t all that different from the guys I lived with in college.
Appears to me Ivan has overtaken Tommy as the top thugs of soccer. They really handed it to the English fans in Marseilles.
Thatcher pretty much eliminated the Hooliganism in English soccer. Now Central and Eastern Europe is the capital of hooliganism.
English hooligan culture has been largely eradicated.
These Russians and some Poles train MMA and do it as a sport.
Apparently their next target is the Ukraine-Poland game where they will support their Ukrainian brothers against the “Polish whores”.
These guys are trained in martial arts and take fighting seriously and from reports are teetoalers.
How can you have a drunken brawl if you don’t drink?

Fighting to them is a drug. Rival crews will text each other to meet to fight. It provides an adrenaline rush.
Russians....they sure seem a unified, proud bunch. They’ve got lots of organized crime and corrupt government, but so do we and we’ve lost all our pride, we’re not unified in any way.
They even have reality show style fighting competitions.

Western Civilization is dying in fron of our eyes.
My nephew visited from Germany last year, and I took him to his first college football game. It should be said that he was a very talented soccer player and was an aspiring Bundesliga player so he knows the landscape for European soccer.
As we were tailgating he studied the surrounding area and finally asked “where are the police?” “They are over there directing traffic, why do you ask?”
He went on to tell me that for soccer games in Germany police are there full force to deal with rowdy fans and to quell riots. He was surprised how chilled everyone was before the college football game.
And stay out of Krakow when Cracovia and Wisla have their derby.
THe jungfolk is apparently the CSKA Moscow ultras. Jungfolk was a name for a grouping within the Hitler youth.

I used to think that, back when Reagan was in office. Since then, not so much. We could barely come together as a nation on September 11, 2001, I doubt we can do any better today.
