In an interview on Monday, former President Jimmy Carter spoke of a resurgence of open racism, saying, I dont feel good, except for one thing: I think the country has been reawakened the last two or three years to the fact that we havent resolved the race issue adequately.
Carter laid the racism at the feet of the Republican Party, saying that criticism of President Obama had a heavy racial overtone and that Donald Trump had tapped a waiting reservoir there of inherent racism. It seems as if the peanut president is simply saddened by the fact that Obamas policies have not helped the country which is the source of the criticism, and he doesnt understand the voter anger at the government (of any race) held by the voters attached to Trump (and even Bernie Sanders).
In the interview Carter said, When you single out any particular group of people for secondary citizenship status, thats a violation of basic human rights. But, if the former president really believes that, he should look at his own life, since he has displayed Anti-Semitism during much of his presidential and post presidential career.

"Overtone" is used when specifics are absent.
Jimmuh who?
Carter is feeling tough now that Obama is the worst president ever.
I expected nothing less from this pathetic sad old leftist
Trump is rewriting American politics I love it. Fact is every damn human on the planet can have “racist” thoughts. Every damn one. The left wants it in the open? Ok let’s go.
peanut obviously spent far to much time to close to the reactor in his sub.
its his way of trying to apologize for being a segregationist when he was governor; overcompensation.
Jimmie was tone deaf when he was in office, and still is.
In that, he is a living American tradition as a politician!
He is otherwise simply an old fool.
f-ing Carter ....just die already . So sick of EVER hearing from this guy . POS
Carter sounds just the way he did in 1980. He loved to talk about Reagan’s tone, or overtones, arathe than what Reagan actually said.
Some years later, Carter gave an interview in which he was obviously trying to make Reagan look bad. He described when Reagan came to see him in the Oval Office, and Carter told Reagan what he thought were the most pressing issues, domestically and internationally. Carter said that Reagan had no questions, and took no notes. He was obviously trying to paint Reagan as stupid and uncurious. What was funny was how obvious it was that Reagan detested Carter, and simply thought he had nothing to say that was worth listening to.
Jimmy the racist, segregationist, anti-Semite. F him.
The Buffoon from Georgia needs a nap.
A dirt nap.
Carter did not quit in protest, knowing it would undermine his Southern Strategy in the election.

I am so sick of identity politics. Someone tell me where is the flush handle?
Ol’ Jimmy feeling guilty about all the slaves his family once owned? Well, the rest of us don’t have that problem, Jimmy, because no one in our family ever owned slaves. So, wallow in it if you’re feeling down, because we don’t have to and will not.
What’s the world record for being called a racist in a week? People have got to be getting sick of this..it’s all they have..to call racists...yawn
The term “douchewaffle” was invented for this guy...
That’s cool what you did with the word “rather”!
My phone dissects words and reassembles them.
