Dear Mrs. Clinton:
I whole heartedly agree when you say, "Donald Trump's idea of making America great again, means taking America backwards." I remember that America very well. It was an America of the 50's when Trump was growing up, and so were you and so was Bernie. Did you forget?
It was a time...
When Americans had pride about themselves, and dressed nice to go out in public.
When you could leave your front doors unlocked if you wanted to and not worry about it.
When children in school learned about the history of our country and proud to say the pledge of allegiance each morning.
When people immigrated here legally and proud the day they became citizens of our country.
When marriage was between a man and a woman.
When the word gay meant happy and a joint was a bad place to be.
When socialism was a dirty word and free enterprise meant, thinking and growing rich through an idea and hard work.
When a buck was still silver.
When a girl could still cook, and still would.
When ghettos were neighborhoods with sidewalks where people mingled on warm summer nights.
When the American Flag was a respected symbol and never burned.
When criminals actually went to jail.
When you were not afraid to go out at night.
When television was free.
When people talked without cursing.
When taxes were only a necessary nuisance.
When a boy was a boy and didn't wear his pants where you could see his underwear.
When a girl was girl and dressed like one.
When almost everyone went to Church on Sunday.
When things of quality were made in America.
When clerks and repairmen tried to please you and wrapped your purchase in front of you.
When college kids swallowed goldfish, not drugs.
When a drive-in movie was a fun place to watch movies.
When people respected their elders, and said yes ma'am, no ma'am, yes sir, no sir, even after they were grown up.
When most songs had a tune and the words made sense and never vulgar.
When people expected less, and valued what they had more.
When politicians proclaimed their patriotism and meant it.
When everyone knew the difference between right and wrong.
When things were not perfect-but you did not expect them to be.
When our government stood up for Americans anywhere in the world.
When you knew that the law would be enforced and your safety protected.
When you considered yourself lucky to have a good job and proud, too.
When the law meant justice and you were in awe at the sight of a policeman.
When you were not too embarrassed to say that this is the best country.
When America was a land filled with brave, proud, hardworking people.
When the cost of energy was cheap and our factories grew.
When there was no confusion about what rest room you should use.
When the nation wasnt trillions of dollars in debt.
When 94,000,000 people were not out of the work force.
When you usually graduated from high school or college to a good paying job.
When politicians didn't accept millions of dollars from money abroad.
When places like Detroit and Upper New York thrived.
When water was abundant in California because the people planned it that way.
When you worked for the government you didn't have to join a union.
I could go on and on and, Mrs. Clinton, because you see, I grew up then too, and I remember those times.
For example, I'm sure like all of us then, you vividly remember where you were when you learned that our president had been killed. We all changed that day.
So, I'll stop, and allow others on this forum to tell you why it would be a good thing for us to go back to a better America, the kind Donald Trump is talking about.
And let me make it clear how most of us in this country feel about your vision of America. Your vision is one that is like the past 7 years. The Obama years.
Your America offers more of the same for our future--no incentives for employers to employ, nothing other than a redistribution of our wealth and mediocrity. Your vision of America are empty words.
I always thought I was born years too late because I wanted to live back in the good old days. Even further would’ve been good.
“You could watch television with kids or parents and not be embarrassed, not even once.”
Today the commercials need to be screened!
Yep. It's really boiling down to if you're against their suicidal endless reckless chain immigration and lawless violent open borders, you're a racist.
I think these leftist are in real deep trouble.
They've divided the united to the point where most realize this is clearly part of their ultimate goal, to destroy the once independent, united and sovereign America.
And having a Rep-controlled Congress.
TV...years ago EVERY STATION spoke in English!! Imagine that! One could also shop and EVERY package was printed in English....no problem in reading the print!
TRiUMPh
TRiUMPh
When cartoons were funny.
When comedians like Jack Benny and Bob Hope could make you laugh without using the “F” bomb.
When gasoline was 19 cents a gallon, (I seem to recall it being around 25 cents when I started driving, about the cost of a pack of cigs).
When we watched Gunsmoke, Ozzie & Harriet, Donna Reed, My Three Sons, Andy Griffith and the Beeve.
When we would find a ball and whatever we could use as a bat.
When we wore PJs to bed.
When we all ate together for each meal.
How did we survive?
When we drank water from the tap not a bottle
When nobody knew about the dangers of lead poisoning so even cribs were painted with brightly colored lead based paint.
When medicine and Bottles with tablets did not have child proof lids.
When you didn’t stop for school bus.
When you wore no seat belts or air bags in cars.
When you were told smoking is good for your digestion.
When kids shared coke from one bottle.
When we drank whole milk and butter on everything.
When parents couldn’t reach us ( no mobiles )
When most of the day we would be out playing with friends and parents knew we would be safe with hardly any weirdos wandering the streets.
When we rode our bikes with no helmets and doing whatever stunts we could ( bikes were so much heavier and hard waring ) and always had punctures to repair or get dad to help with.
When we didn’t get on the team because we were not good enough and that was that.
Best %#$*+@ vanity ever!
I hate Sinatra. I think the one I hate most is “It Was a Very Good Year.”
REally? I thought it should have made the side bar as a Freeper Editorial. No response from the mod. Maybe you try too. lol
You’re right, when did we start talking like that?
And JFK was the one who started the closing of the mental hospitals. So now we live in one big mental hospital.
There’s a movie (can’t remember the name of it) where a guy comes into the present time from the past (either he was frozen or something else) and he has absolutely no trouble with the new technical stuff (getting cash out of a wall, etc.) but is stunned at young women using foul language and other breaches with past decency.
He’s like “Wha hoppen?” Powerful message.
This fake president tells only mean spirited jokes which fall flat and the only people who laugh at them are his sycophants and the media. But I repeat myself.
On the other hand, I clearly recall in 8th grade, being at a bus stop, and the these high school girls were there too. And my friend started to raz them, and one of the girls said to him, “Bite it!” of “Eat the meat!” Shut him down real fast.
Good morning. Me, too. Great thread.
