The deepening ties between Israel and Russia are important for the countrys security, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Sunday as he addressed a Jerusalem Day ceremony on the eve of his Monday departure to Moscow.
On Tuesday he will hold his fourth face-to-face meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in less than a year to strengthen military cooperation between the two countries and to celebrate 25 years of diplomatic relations.
On the day that marks the unification of Jerusalem during the 1967 Six-Day War, Netanyahu could not help but reflect on what an enormous difference time makes in the relationships between nations.

I think Bibi is exploring all the best options for a besieged Israel that already has good relations with the Russian Federation, and believe this is a positive step in improving stability in the Middle East.

Strange days. America abdicates, then bitches when Russia fills the resulting void. We’re not only feckless, but anal retentive.

Bibi is doing the best thing he can — partnering with someone who might mean what they say as opposed to obozo.

There is a lot of meat on a number of topics in the article about inter governmental bureaucracy cooperation on mundane but important issues affecting John Q Public in both nations, signs of ease of relations between them.

Obama’s America has thrown US Foreign diplomacy and stregy back 50 years. The whole focus of US Foreign policy in the Middle East was to prevent the Soviets from having a base in the region. Obama flubbed it and has alienated all of America's allies in the region, especially, Israel. Obama created a power vacuum being filled by a willing Russia.
All that gibberish about Obama being Israel's best friend because he has upped Defense cooperation and funding with Israel is merely a veneer that must be maintained to pretend that Obama actually cares about Israel. He does not and has said since 2008 that he will put a ray of light between the US and Israel. That is, alienate Israel and cower before the Arabs and Iranians, the fool. All previous Presidents have always said that the relationship with Israel is so tight that not even light can penetrate between us.
Obama blew this all wide open and that is why we see complete and utter chaos in that region and the rest of the world for that matter.

For Israel, foreign relations verge on existential concerns.
They have to do whatever it takes to survive and must be allowed to do so. If that means allying with Russia and/or nuking Iran, you do what you gotta do, or you won’t be around to contemplate ‘nuances.’ They may have already waited too long to deal with Iran.

You don’t need an ICBM to deliver a nuke. Those Gaza tunnels will do just fine.

They should use a neutron bomb on Iran. It’s the perfect capitalist weapon: it gets rid of all those pesky humans without tearing up the infrastructure.

Good or bad, Russia is going to be the anchor for what is left of western civilization if America goes down.
All of the players are just warming up to the new potential coach because they prefer not to die.

Your points are accurate in an overall sense, but this is slightly misleading:
Obama created a power vacuum being filled by a willing Russia.Russia has plenty on their plate and was content with stability and economic development within a zone around their own borders.
They commenced current Syrian operations more of necessity than desire.
Russian operations with more of an element of desire typically have an ethnic Russian population of concern involved.

Just a year ago, Russian journalist Vladimir Yakovlev was one of Moscow's most influential media figures. Today, he lives a quiet life in Tel Aviv and has swapped his Russian passport for an Israeli one.Ahh, yes a "journalist". Is he perhaps, the unbiased, superior egalitarian equal of the sterling American Drive-By-Media "journalists", or just your average Leftist hack non producer looking for the easier life on the dole in Israel, and typical of those "fleeing Russia?
Sadly (and I mean sadly, as there was a time when Radio Free Europe and Voice of America were anti Communist warriors), RFE and VA Enemedia propaganda is significantly worse than Soviet propaganda ever was.
