Rep. Tom Cole (R-Okla.) on Friday said Donald Trumps temporary ban on Muslim travel into the U.S. would not survive Constitutional scrutiny.
If I had to pick a particular position that would concern me the most, it would be the ban on Muslims, Cole, a lawmaker close to GOP leadership, said Friday on MSNBC. "I think its clearly, you know, unconstitutional, its ill-advised, it would really hurt the U.S.
We need a lot of Muslim friends to deal with what were dealing with overseas, and we have some great Muslim friends. And we ought to recognize that and be sensitive.

No, I don't think it's satire.

Was it unconstitutional when Carter did it? Then it’s not now.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) on Tuesday said he is also concerned about Trumps potential policy regarding Muslim emigration.
I disagreed publicly with Trumps statement when he made it several months ago, he said during an interview with Yahoo! News. “Its completely unworkable. I dont like it at all. I disagree with it.
McConnell added close ties with Muslim Americans are essential for preventing radical Islamic terrorism on American soil.

I love how guys who spend their days passing laws that violate the Constitution declare Trump’s Muslim immigration proposal unconstitutional, even though there clearly is precedent that it would indeed be constitutional.

Of course it is constitutional, in the name of national emergency and a threat to national security.
Cole is a putz.

Tell Cole he needs to learn that Trump
can and should restrict immigration Perhaps Cole needs to actually learn the Constitution, that would be a novel idea for a RINO behind sucker.
To: McGruff
Cole is a registered Chickasaw Indian and a PhD history professor. Doesn't apparently make him a Consitutional Law scholar. As noted on FR elsewhere, various classes of individuals have been denied entry to the U.S. before. Our Constitution governs our people, not everybody in the world who wants to freeload here>

“Constitutional scrutiny”
Since when did foreigners become protected by the Constitution?
They’ve let Obama be a dictator for 8 years now they are concerned with Constitutional scrutiny!

This guy is either super-ignorant of our Constitution and political history, or else he is a traitor
(FYI, Congress has complete control over who to admit and who to NOT admit into USA...this is the most fundamental element of national sovereignty....Congress can (and has) limited or prohibited entry by all sorts of criteria...)
I understand why we do not allow a poll tax or a religious test for office. But we sure should implement a test on basic civics and our US Constitution, imho. And we should put illegal alien(s) and Constitutionally Unqualified persons holding high offices OUT of office and into prison (or just send him back to Kenya/Indonesia/?)
We have a very excellent USA Constitution. Its just awful how our Consitution (including so many of our “inalienable rights”) are trashed by this administration in particular, and its Congressional co-conspirator enabler sell-out traitors. Whatever. No wonder the people are upset...

Funny that you can not find the word “TEMPORARY” anywhere near the phrase, “Ban on Muslims”, by any in the media.
The “Muslim Ban” is a lie by omission.

Some brave congressman needs to introduce a bill denominating Islam as a political movement. Then it’s legal without question. Maybe Trump could do it by EO.

And during WW2, it was unconstitutional to exclude bushido and emperor worship from the US. Bad, bad country.
Stupidity from our own side. Incredible stupidity.
