Lede??? I always thought it was Lead.....am I wrong?
that’s racist...
They should report on all the BLM tweets just after it happened claiming that if it had been a black kid they would have let the Gorilla kill him. Then, of course, they find out it was a black kid. DUH!
lede n. by 1965, alternative spelling of lead (n.2) in the newspaper journalism sense (see lead (v.)), to distinguish this sense from other possible meanings of the written word, perhaps especially the molten lead (n.1) used in typesetting machines.
You are correct. It is short for “Lead paragraph” but somehow the spelling got changed.
It is correct......................
Lede??? I always thought it was Lead.....am I wrong?

Of course you are.
You are probably one of those privileged white folks that has never had to work a day in his life to achieve your millions. The fact is proven that you have far too much time on your hands where you can sit around and pick up on foibles such as this.
Then again, if you worked all your life and paid attention while the state was educating (before the ‘curve’) you, when words like ‘lede’ show up on a page and they virtually jump off the page and say ‘What are you going to do about it’.
Then again - I just looked to see if there is such a word as lede and LO & BEHOLD, SUFFERIN SUCCOTASH, HEAVENS TO MERGATROID , there is a word spelled L E D E and it means the LEDE column (read LEAD) column in an article or the teaser to entice you to read the whole article. Whodda thunk that...
Naturally this whole ‘waste of time’ is tongue in cheek and I am REALLY sad I found something that will enable to allow this so called journalist to get off the hook ALTHOUGH, I doubt the penner knows that - while pointing at his/her Journalist Degree...
Lede is actually correct. But it is a bit surprising to find journalists that actually know that.
“Lede??? I always thought it was Lead.....am I wrong?”
No, it’s “lede.” It is pronounced “leed,” though.
Lede is more specifically correct, but lead is generically correct as well.
You're in good company (me). Apparently the leading story is "the lede."
Lede is correct.
Leading is the vertical spacing between lines of type, so called because traditionally strips of lead were used to create the space. "Lede" is an intentional misspelling to avoid confusion with the metal.
