WSJ's Bret Stephens: Trump Must Lose So Badly That the GOP Voters 'Learn Their Lesson'
Mediaite ^ | May 29, 2016 | sam Reisman

Speaking to CNN's Fareed Zakaria Sunday afternoon, Wall Street Journal's Bret Stephens said that it was important for Donald Trump to lose the general election so utterly that the Republican party and its voters "learn their lesson" and never nominate someone like him ever again.

Stephens has been one of Trump's most outspoken conservative critics, writing in March, for instance, that Trump is essentially an amplified version of Barack Obama. Both men were "epic narcissists who see themselves as singularly suited to redeem an America that is not only imperfect but fundamentally broken," he wrote.

"The candidacy of Donald Trump is the open sewer of American conservatism," he wrote on another occasion.

"I most certainly will not vote for Donald Trump," Stephens told Zakaria, adding that he wanted to "make sure he is the biggest loser in presidential history" in a very long time.

Stephens continued: "It's important that Donald Trump and what he represents — this kind of ethnic quote 'conservatism' or populism — be so decisively rebuked that the Republican party, the Republican voters learn their lesson that they cannot nominate a man so manifestly unqualified to be president in any way, shape, or form."

If not Trump, then who?
“Trump must lose!” requires someone else win, who is more worth voting for than Trump. Go ahead, can’t be hard, right? Someone with real large-organization experience? Certainly not Hillary or Bernie. Then who?

The lesson is to submit to the Uniparty Globalist Liberal Establishment Elite (UGLEE).

Never.

Wall Street Journal's Bret Stephens said that it was important for Donald Trump to lose the general election so utterly that the Republican party and its voters "learn their lesson" and never nominate someone like him ever again.

The distorted thinking that leads to this type of wish is:

1) all or nothing thinking
2) overgeneralization
3) mental filter
4) discounting the positive
5) magnification

Wow, these people are really losing their minds

They lost them a long time ago. What they're losing is their control over what people know about their agenda.

If the suckers who fall for the "Black Lives Matter" BS wake up and realizes it's a tool being used against blacks, to marginalize them and replace them with more compliant hispanics, that will be a huge boost to electing Trump.

That phrase is his way of saying we, the citizens of the US, have no right to keep our country.
The multi-national politicians have accomodated the importation of the workers for the jobs that cannot be exported by making sure the borders stay open and the laws unenforced.
Fraudulently documented foreigners are more important to them than the citizens.
The rule of law is an impediment that needs to be removed.

What is it with these people to talk like that? What hypocrisy! If something like that were said by conservatives, they would immediately be branded racist in a firestorm of criticism. These liberal are dangerous people. The next thing out of their lips will be, “Kill all conservatives!” They’ve said every nasty thing except that.

Someone should remind these asshats that in a civil war they would be bullet magnets.

Stephens patriotism ends at his bank account. He and the entire WSJ are in it to be the wealthy elite, living high due to blessing us with their profound knowledge and understanding. Justice would be Stephens living the rest of his life destitute in the gutter after November’s revolution.

I think his anyone-but-Trump view leaves him voting for Clinton or Sanders. Likely cheering Clinton on, an establishment pick anyway, because she is the “least socialist” of anyone to meaningfully challenge Trump.

Why does it seem that the ones who pushed Ted Cruz and wanted others to like Cruz find and post this anti Trump BS?

From Wiki
“Stephens was born in New York City[3] and was the son of Xenia and Charles J. Stephens, a former vice president of General Products, a chemical company in Mexico.[4][5] His parents were both secular Jews. His paternal grandfather had changed the family surname from Ehrlich to Stephens (after poet James Stephens).[6] He was raised in Mexico City, where his father worked. In his adolescence, he attended boarding school at Middlesex School in Massachusetts. After his graduation, Stephens studied political philosophy at the University of Chicago. He earned a master’s degree in comparative politics [7] from the London School of Economics. He is married to Corinna da Fonseca-Wollheim, a music critic who writes for The New York Times. The couple has three children and lives in New York City.[8][9]”

If Trump were not running he would wish the same results.

“Ethnic conservatism?” We should call it CITIZEN-CENTRIC CONSERVATISM. And proudly.

Odd. He often writes about the Middle East and is very pro-Israel. Doesn’t he understand that a Democratic victory in November carries a higher risk for Israel (since Hillary would be committed to the Iran deal, and Bernie comes close to a Noam Chomsky position on Israel)?
