Donald Trump is planning a Memorial Day weekend visit with one of his favorite constituencies: bikers.
As motorcyclists stream into the nation’s capital for Rolling Thunder, their largest annual gathering, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee is planning an appearance on Sunday, campaign spokeswoman Hope Hicks said.
“I am doing it in honor of the great bikers who have been totally supportive of my campaign and now I want to be supportive of them,” Trump said in a statement to Bloomberg Politics. “I look forward to it!”
The bike rally, called the “First Amendment Demonstration Run,” begins at noon Eastern time on Sunday, starting at the North Pentagon parking lot and circling the National Mall.
At Trump rallies, motorcycle enthusiasts frequently line the entrances to show their support as protesters do the opposite just steps away. A central part of his appeal to them: a shared belief that self-interested politicians are degrading the military, ignoring veterans and running “a sad government,” as a letter about this weekend’s ride published in December by Rolling Thunder organizers said.
“We are fighting wars and seeking freedom for countries whose people hate us and want to destroy our way of live [sic],” the letter said. “Remember the history of WWII, the last war we fought to really win!”
The week before the New York primary, which Trump easily won, dozens of bikers organized a meet-up in upstate New York to support him. In January, he opened his remarks in Myrtle Beach by thanking a dozen or so motorcycle riders who stood outside cheering for him.
He doesn’t become the official nominee until the GOP Convention,
July 18-21, 2016 when he’ll be nominated and approved.
Malcom Forbes was a bike aficionado.

It looks like he was in San Diego with Sarah, Piper & Trig so he must be doing ok.
From her FB post, she was talking about having ridden with Rolling Thunder through Washington DC for the POW-MIA cause. She says “I’ll never forget the luscious smell of that fuel and that leather, and the beautiful roar of 100,000 engines - music to my ears! Enjoy this year’s Rolling Thunder, Patriots; have a blast on Sunday! God bless our vets!”
It doesn’t sound like she/Todd will be there this year.

Been to the event many times. Trump has made the right choice to appear. He will find plenty of patriots, especially vets from all over the country.
The last time they road it was a Harley Dealer who made it possible at the last minute. Maybe they opped out for DT to ride this time.

It is always great to see them. There is one of Rolling Thunder’s multiple “rally/organizing points” just a couple of miles from my house. Folks will be rolling in to them today.
If it goes by the post office they could all have front row seats to watch the festivities. Start a new tradition of an observation stand to salute the troops from the TRUMP hotel!
