Donald Trump on Friday said it would be inappropriate to hold a debate with Bernie Sanders, throwing cold water on an idea that had captivated the political world in recent days.
"As much as I want to debate Bernie Sanders and it would be an easy payday I will wait to debate the first place finisher in the Democratic Party, probably Crooked Hillary Clinton, or whoever it may be," Trump said in a statement.
The presumptive GOP presidential nominee added that it "seems inappropriate" to debate the "second place finisher."

The media and Hillary said Trump wasn’t serious, I guess they were right
Debate over...Trump won.
Trump ain’t just living in the heads of the MSM media empty headed suits.....
He is building Towers in their heads...
Yes, Trump is controlling the dialogue. Trump is dictating the narrative. In this case, Trump is demonstrating how to instill fear, uncertainty, and doubt (FUD) in his rivals, Hillary, Sanders, Obama, and the MSM, and play them off of each other— keeping them scrambling to catch up to him, keeping them off-balance, keeping them putting time and effort into trying to anticipate his next move— and then changing direction, throwing his rivals off-course.
I also think Trump could change his mind, come back and offer to debate. Sanders would look worse if he were to refuse, and now he has to hedge his bets by practicing for a debate with Trump which may never come, or take a risk that Trump is bluffing, and not prepare for a debate that might be offered by Trump later.
Right at the moment, Hillary is reeling from the State IG email report, and another cardinal rule is not to get in the way of an enemy destroying itself. if Trump hogs the headlines with a debate, then the news media could have used it as an excuse not to cover Hillary’s state department email problems.

I agree. Nothing has changed in the last two days since he floated the idea. Backtracking just makes him look flaky. He could have said nobody has offered the 10 million and the deal isn’t going to be on the table indefinitely, or something like that.
-——Very stupid to have backtracked on this.-——
Not at all....Hillary is now even in a tighter corner....
Trump just reminded the world, Hillary is the front runner, entitled nominee who is afraid to debate him....
Just what is she afraid of...?
He plans to give the 10 million fee to women’s causes so Hillary can’t claim he against women....
That’s pretty much all she has....on him...

Bob Arums Top Rank Promotions has offered to promote a proposed Donald Trump vs. Bernie Sanders debate, pledging to donate the proceeds, a minimum of $20 million, to charity.

See...Trump is 4 steps ahead...probably had it all set up with Bob Arum.
Interesting.
Hope you’re right. I still think some consultant POS managed to talk Trump out of this.
Yes, it does make him appear flaky. And the only narrative going away from this will be that “Trump is a flakey chicken.”
I’m actually pleased with this. Trump debating Sanders would just give Hillary a preview of his debate with her.
No need to give her that advantage.
He's inside their OODA Loop
Heh,
I betcha there aren’t too many non military that know what that means.
MSM will be dissecting this all during the holiday weekend: “Who would have won the debate - TRUMP or SANDERS” “Why did TRUMP back out?” “Do you think there is a chance for a debate??
They never learn...
Same here.
Trump will change his mind if they fork over his 15 million asking price...if anything, he’ll probably end up raising the fee.
You don’t like Trump, do you?
