If the Trump/Sanders debate proceeds as planned in California, youre about to witness one of the most important moments of a 2016 general election that hasnt even begun yet. To say such a debate would be an unmitigated disaster for Hillary Clinton would be the understatement of the century. Lets explore why.
First of all, Hillary Clinton outright rejected a debate request from Bernie Sanders ahead of the June 7th California primary. Given Sanders recent momentum, as well as her need to persuade a significant number of his supporters to back her in November; such a denial was not only arrogant, it was highly insulting to voters in Americas largest state. From team Clintons perspective there was little upside to agreeing to a debate, versus easily manageable downside from a few days of negative media coverage.
Or so they thought

YES!
Then she could move on to her next big project!
The white fur coat with black spots!
The Clinton Global Initiative will have the new environmentally sustainable coats for sale, in time for the inauguration!
Welcome to the party. Give the Clinton’s the retirement party they deserve. It’s pretty clear where the nexus of evil resides in that clan.
“. . . this is how the Democrats are going to treat you - out with the garbage. Sad, so sad!

Congrats, your post has that DT patter down pretty well. I can hear him saying that last, especially.
He's a Grabowshi!
This debate is the worst thing that could happen as a debate with Trump will only help Sanders. Sanders = socialism = the worst evil of all. Yeah Hillary is socialist too but this Sanders demon makes Hillary look centrist. Yes both would be terrible for America and only Trump can save America now .
We have to help Hillary beat sanders cause Trump can beat Hillary much easier (as 25% of Bernie supporters will vote for trump over Hillary :do any of you cheering for this debate know math or logic at all?).
Also sanders is so socialist and far left that he makes Hillary look centrist. socialism is the evil . sanders = socialism = the evil we have to stop at all costs.
Trump can save America if elected. This is the only mistake he’s made but he was baited by a liberal media demon wasn’t he . Trump didn’t come up with this debate sanders idea. Look the media are the worst socialists and they want the most extreme form of socialism implemented to the max and so their man is Sanders. Sanders will destroy America so much that this will make Venezuela (that is collapsing now because of socialism) look prosperous
This move may trump Hillary.
She has to be fuming about this Machiavellian plot to make her seem insignificant ...
There is NO upside for Trump to do this debate. The suggestion was brilliant. He should have asked for 25 million, knowing the networks wouldn’t pay it.
I support Trump 100%. However, I am not convinced he would out debate Sanders. Most of the negative press he has gotten was produced by his own words. These were major self inflicted mistakes. These same words did not kill his candidacy. They did wound him for those voters who are undecided. These same voters he is courted today.
Reagan had the velvet touch. He punched hard. Carter never felt the sting until it was too late.
There is nothing, and I do mean NOTHING that Trump does that he has not thought through 3 steps ahead knowing the outcome would be favorable to him. I firmly believe his gaffes are planned and executed at the right time...
I'm sure he's a past master at this:

Down goes Clinton! Down Goes Clinton! Down goes Clinton!
I just wander at one point she will sit on her stool and say "no mas, no mas"

Is there any real chance that a debate will take place?
They will first need a cage match or two to select the moderator.
Close, but unlikely.
Bernie can defend Socialism, Obama and the (lack of an) economy, while Trump offers to make America great again!
I see lots of upside.
Hillary is the RAT nominee. She already has enough delegates, and her count will only get higher in the last few primaries.
But, debating Sanders weakens Hillary, and gives the Sanders voters someplace to go when Hillary steals the nomination. Plus, Donald only gets half the debate profits, the other half goes to Bernie. And Bernie is short on cash right now.
If Donald gave Bernie a $5-10 Million donation it would be illegal, but if he debates him, he puts money in Sander's campaign, Makes Hillary look petty, and gets much publicity by donating his part of the take.
A political trifecta.
Biden is the October surprise. But how does he get on the ballot in 50 states? Does he get by with no debates? Can he avoid saying anything stupid before Election Day? Will the GOP take this to court or is this not another hill not to die on?
Ummm, that's 57 states according to Barry Soetoro.
You are of course correct that socialism/communism has been a blight on mankind. I also agree that this debate between Trump and Sanders was not Trump's idea. I appreciate your post because it appears to be another illustration that Trump when posed with an “off the cuff” challenge from Kimmel was able to react in an instant with a response which despite your valid concerns is already causing chaos on the Democrat side.
The response by Trump does not appear to have been run past any of his “advisers”. Trump has the capability to make a risky decision in an instant. This is the type of person that we need as our president. This was a true example of “acting presidential”. Toned down and politically correct is not “acting presidential”. Making important decisions which have consequences in an instant is presidential. This is a high stakes gamble, but by the current numbers Bernie has almost no chance of actually becoming the nominee and even if he did, his chances of beating Trump in the general election are almost nil regardless of what the polls suggest.
I'm not so certain an economic mechanism is Trump's primary objective. That is, while it may be a means to an end, it's not the chief goal.
Rather, I think if we start with a completely blank slate, which is essentially what Trump is proposing, the core idea is to restore America as an independent, sovereign nation bound by a set of laws. The role of government would then return to serving the interests of the citizenry ie We the People.
If we use that as a starting point, then we can begin to diagram how one gets there exactly. Since Trump is a real estate developer, he knows very well that preparing a piece of property and laying a proper foundation is key.
With respect with the US, we have 30+ years of deep rooted corruption that needs to be yanked out by its roots. Bernie is fully aligned with this, which is of course why he has garnered such wide support.
Long before the country can be pointed in the "right" direction, it first has to stop, repair the extensive damage, and then begin the long process of once again getting underway.
Bernie gives Trump a 50 state, 60% mandate to "go medieval" on the DC-NY-LA axis of corruption.
Ballot access is for the party, and literally NOT the candidate. Voters vote for and choose presidential electors. The candidate names appear only as a crutch to facilitate completing a ballot.
And even after the general election, the party can change who the electors will name, in the ballots they send to Congress. This would be done if a candidate became unavailable.
It will come to a plea deal. Clinton steps down from the campaign and serves no time.
I bet it goes down like this. Hillary goes to the convention and picks Joe Biden as her vice president. The convention elects the team, shutting out Bernie Sanders. After the convention, Clinton steps aside and Joe Biden goes to the top of the ticket and picks another vice president (ala George McGovern, Eagleton and Shriver).
It wont work for them, but its the only straw the dims have to grasp.
I've come to that conclusion too - - took me a while to see it.
