A Maryland man who killed his 3-month-old son for $750,000 in insurance money was sentenced to life in prison with all but 50 years suspended on Thursday after a trial before a judge.
Moussa Sissoko, 38, of Silver Spring, killed his 3-month-old son, Shane, in 2001, then sought to become the sole beneficiary of a $750,000 life insurance policy on the boy, court files show.

Life insurance is to protect your family against a financial loss that a death would cause. The only financial loss you would suffer in the death of an infant is the cost of the burial. A few thousand dollars at the most.
He will have been in prison for 25 years when he is up for parole. I hope he gets denied.
The worst criminal in this story is the judge.
I tried to buy $50,000 life insurance policies for my two minor children but was told by my agent that $25,000 was the max, by law. (Illinois)
Surprised he’s made it this long with his crime in prison.
yeah, I was figuring 25k would be plenty.
Baby murderers are pretty low on the food chain in prison.
3 month old. Just what I wondered. What insurance company would write such a policy?
No justice in the courts. Hopefully he will meet some justice with his inmates.
A greedy murderer.
Life, cut to 50 years; means he’ll probably end up serving 15, maybe 20.
Three months not years.
The article says he’s eligible for patrol in 11 yrs.

The many Moussas around are trying all kinds of insurance fraud.
Another Obama if I had a son
It seems so utterly strange. Why the equivalent of a slap on the wrist. Something has to be quite unusual in this picture.
$750,000 would be hard to write on any child considering they would not be able to show cause for such a high life face value. I can not imagine an insurer actually issuing that size policy on a new born.
I got policies on all my children within a few months of their birth. The one exception was our second born.
He was born with a genetic defect and was ineligible for life insurance from most carriers. I was able to secure a whole life policy from a fraternal organization that I belong to. They require that all members be allowed to insure every one of their children for a $5,000 policy. My wife also gets $10,000 per child in group life through her employer.
It is very lucky that we where able to get it as we unfortunately had to make a claim when he passed away. The insurance was of great help. We where able to bury him and pay off some of his medical expenses.
As for 11 years. Women are allowed to kill their own children legally as long as they employ an abortionist. So......
