As many as 500 top evangelical and social conservative leaders, including Dr. Ben Carson and Tony Perkins, will have a closed-door meeting with Donald Trump on June 21 in New York City to ascertain what he has to offer to the country...
--snip--
Those leading the efforts include Southern Baptist Convention President Ronnie Floyd, Focus on the Family founder James Dobson, Faith and Freedom Coalition's Ralph Reed, Penny Nance of Concerned Women for America, Bob McEwen, Tim Wildmon of the American Family Association, Kelly Shackleford of First Liberty, American Values President Gary Bauer, Family Leader President Bob Vander Plaats, and megachurch pastors Jack Graham and Ed Young.

From the state of Christianity in America today, odds are any given minister, pastor or whatever in this group ought to have some ready access to humility and contrition themselves.
Donald Trump would appear at a glance to be a cultural Christian, like most Americans, with scant or no walk with God or redemptive experience. That calls for intercessory prayer and encouragement. Not a board of inquiry formed of self selected inquisitors from one of the weakest Christian traditions with its lamps barely flickering.
Were these men all OK with all preceding candidates? Why were any of them OK with W’s 12 Step Religion abstractions, and pronouncement that Islam is a religion of peace?
We are due for a sifting in all likelihood. A very thorough sifting indeed.
Exactly. Also, Southerners know the Gospel. They may not live it. They may reject it. But they KNOW it. The weird, false notes in the Cruz campaign beginning with Beck put them off. We are still a distinct culture, to the chagrin of Statists in both parties.
“Dont subject Mr. Trump to this indignity!!”
Trump will turn it to his advantage and splinter this unprecedented and somewhat sanctimonious inquisition. He’ll be fine. The spew of false prophecies, blasphemies, malicious false witness, doctrinal infidelities and sanctimonious hubris surrounding a certain failed candidate might have been more popular with some of these leaders of some very sick and febrile churches, but God is not mocked, and He will use what instruments He wills, and He will demand an accounting for falsely asserting His authority.
These 500, a few of whom I regard with fondness and respect, should bring at least as much humility as they demand.
“Why do I think the Cruzlims are behind this?”
Because it has that Pharisaical, inquisitorial smell. The sanctimonious social version of stocks and pillories.
We shall see what we shall see. God saves, or makes examples, as he wills.
Prayers up for ALL. May God give grace and deliverance to Americans.
Cruz slapdown was gratifying-——Southern believers are savvy.
Faith gives one many insights into human behavior.
And the Ten Commandments are a great reference point.
Awesome!! Appreciation your post so much!!
These church leaders definitely should be outraged by the campaign or should I say crusade waged by that certain failed candidate you reference!
I pray, as well, that Trump will be able to handle this
sanctimony. I just wish he didn’t have to!!
‘”Our goal is to be able to have a conversation that could lead to a better understanding of what Donald Trump has to offer to the country,” said Family Research Council President Tony Perkins, according to Fox News, which says Trump has agreed to meet with the evangelical and social conservative leaders.’
It does have an ominous, Inquisitional sound to it. GG was able to pull the above quote from the article, which has a less sanctimonious feel to it. As you said, Psalm, it’s up to Trump to turn this potential show trial to his advantage, and I agree with your assessment that he will, God willing.
Amen.
You nailed it.
Couldn't have said it any better.
Once the “Church” finds out you’re gay, they own you.
I have read and posted links to literally thousands of articles about Trump since last year, and have listened to most of his rallies. I have never heard him say he is not a Christian just the opposite. He has said, "I am a Christian" on many occasions. What is the basis for your claim? What have I missed? Do you have a link?
"...because none of us knows how to use a computer to listen to his speeched or read his position papers on his web site. Besides, we are special snowflakes of very high credentials, deserving of and entitled to a private audience."
Good point.
Christ did not say ‘born again’, He said ‘born from above’. Christ said only those that take this ‘flesh’ journey passed the first requirement to see the kingdom of God. Those ‘fallen angels’ spoken of in the book of Jude have already been judged to death. John 3:13 sums up the lesson. God sends the soul/spirit intellect at conception. Trump obviously chose to take this flesh journey... Your standard is not the standard Christ uses.
Friend, you talk nonsense.
The “born again” that is stated in John 3:3 and 7 is referring to being born from above, being born of the Spirit, as Jesus Himself explained clearly. Jesus said, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again [Or, from above), he cannot see the kingdom of God.” [John 3:5]
But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, who were born not of blood (Lit., bloods), nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”
[John 1:12-13]
Every person who is born into this world is dead in his trespasses and sins [Ephesians 2:1] and must be born again, born spiritually, born of God, in order to enter the kingdom of God. It is a work of God.
Peter said, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,” ...
[1 Peter 1:3]
The basis of my claim is the Bible. Yes, I guess you missed it.
You stated in black and white terms as fact what you cannot possibly know. What does that make you?
You said it. <<” Where was the handwringing then??? “>>
Albion, I stated the same response to TL....
.....and received essentially the same reply that you did
Bottom line.....TL is perfectly happy spreading falsehoods and don’t confuse her/him with the facts
I hate seeing disinformation/propaganda/ wrong assumptions/lies....spread about Mr. Trump
The best we can do is refute ........and then ignore.
