New Yorks Gabriel Sherman is reporting that in addition to being a ratings and financial failure, Megyn Kellys interview with Donald Trump has resulted in her losing most of the leverage she had in her upcoming contract negotiations.
Fox executives were willing to consider 9 million viewers a success, but Kellys supposedly mainstream appeal didnt translate to the parent network, and she only netted 4.8 million viewers. It was, as one Fox insider told Sherman, not good for her at all.
In fact, her boss Roger Ailes was apparently so tickled by the fact that he would not have to pay her a reported $25 million to remain at Fox News that he was heard snickering in a Thursday meeting when the special was mentioned.
In the days since, Kelly has been working to contain the fallout. She took aim at critics on her cable show Wednesday night by deploying an age-old Fox News tactic: claiming the backlash was a result of liberal media bias. But behind the scenes, she is said to be worried about the response. Shes very upset with the show reaction, and in hindsight with how it was produced, one Fox veteran told me

We purposely did not watch the show to keep her numbers down. We have seen it on U-Tube.
That visual made me gag!
My heart bleeds for her. My “whatever” bleeds.

Personally I think this story is 100% bogus and it’s take on the “glee” of Ailes re the failure of Kelly’s interview with Trump.
No real businessman would happy over the lack of success of a production since it’s failure costs the Network money. Also Kelly or any other performer is paid commensurate with their success in attracting followers. The more viewers she attracts, the more money the company can demand in advertising fees and the more Kelly will be paid.
The fact that Fox may be able to pay Kelly less does not necessarily work too to the benefit of Fox at all as I am sure they would have been delighted to see an audience of 15 million tune in. Even if it meant they had to pay Kelly more, the difference would have been easily made up by the increase of advertising revenue they would have demanded.
Trish Regan “sat in” for Kelly several days ago. She did a great job IMO. Good permanent replacement for Kelly.
The angry bull dyke look. That’ll bring in the viewers.
I’d say a majority... yes a majority of us chose NOT to watch this because of her....
Judge J...I would start watching that time slot again.
She shouldn’t have gone up against Gibbs.
Never trusted her to begin with, I can see her type coming from a mile away.
Close your eyes and imagine you’re marooned on an island with Megan Kelly. Oh, crap.
Now close your eyes and imagine you’re marooned with Andrea Tantaros. Throw the flare gun into the ocean. Go away, World.
Add Kimberly Guilfoyle and you can keep Ginger and Maryann.
I always thought Kimberly Guilfoyle was more “WOW” and Andrea Tantaros was a little more “girl next door”.
But when the “girl next door” looks into the the camera and smiles, I absolutely melt.
Sigh. Life must go on.
To me...it's...GOOFY to read and especially reproduce anything from salon.... I just don't understand why people do that....((?))
Why give credence to the Godless left..???
“As others have pointed out, this would seem to be more of a failure of Trump to draw ratings than Kelly.”
Trump was only on for 10-15 minutes. I wonder how watching Trump then turning it off effected the ratings?
I imagine that now that Trump has a hold on the nomination plus he’s been interviewed so many times, people are taking a break until after the convention.
For primary coverage, I much prefer CNN these days. And I am shocked by it! They almost seem fair, compared to Fox. That CNN’s rating have surpassed Fox for the first time in 14 years shows I am not the only one. Fox used to get ratings that were more than all the other cable networks combined.
Hope they think their bias was worth it. (I’m the one snickering now.)
I hereby renounce my post #4 and denounce the poster who posted it.
:)
Seriously, I have long since seen the error of my ways in that stupid post 4. It was lazy and unthinking.
Go Trump!
