First, police fatally shot two minority suspects carrying knives. Then transcripts surfaced showing officers using racial slurs in text messages. Finally, a young black woman was shot dead as police tried to pull her from a stolen car.
The woman's shooting death Thursday was the tipping point for San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee, who forced Police Chief Greg Suhr to step down after months of mounting pressure.
The new chief inherits the daunting task of turning around a troubled department in a city deeply divided by race and doing it fast.
"Reforms, reforms, reforms," acting Police Chief Toney Chaplin said Friday when asked about his priorities.

Impossible. Only racist, bigioted Republican areas have race issues. Smart, open-minded, inclusive progressive cities don’t have any issues with race at all.
Blacks make up only 6% in Sa Francisco. Yet they have to get a black Police Chief to deal with their problems?
It appears the objective is to treat black offenders, with gentle hands, when they are caught involved with crimes.
We need a national holiday for cops. Don’t show up for work. We will learn to appreciate them.
the real division is people vs queers
The last SF sheriff left for incompetence in the course of protecting the citizenry when he had a formal policy of not turning over illegal immigrant criminals to the feds as the feds requested and when ICE requested a criminal with a record of 7 arrests who had been deported 5 times be turned over he instead released the criminal who then killed a young woman in SF.
This last SF police chief is released for competence in the course of protecting the citizenry when one of his officers shot a fleeing criminal.
Seems to me whether a candidate is competent or not,the candidate would be ill advised to take a top cop job in a left wing loon city.
As long as any blame can be assigned to the normal minority, things will go fine. Just never ever do anything to offend any cog the abnormal majority.
“Reforms, reforms, reforms,” acting Police Chief Toney Chaplin said Friday when asked about his priorities.
Maybe the “people” (aka creatures) of SF should consider some “reform” in their “culture”.
I was there last month, and I thought there were far more freak show people than non freak show people.
what “reforms”...decriminalize robbing people and carjacking?...threatening people or the cops with a knife?
Pass out free condoms, free needles, and free pipes....the police are cool again
And to remain silent with glee as gentrification chases them to Oakland and Richmond
Just another day in RAAACIST San Francisco.
Never trust someone who spells Tony, “Toney.”
SFO is driving out blacks as fast as they can. In five years or less, problem solved.
Good to know.

What ratty housing left will be gotten rid of, and more posh secure housing. And even more liberal will be the demagogues there.
[snip] Author, founder of Salon.com, and Bernal Heights resident David Talbot recently made a speech at Stanford which was then published in 48HillsOnline.com decrying "Stanford douchebags", gentrification, and Mayor Ed Lee. Talbot's strong words for Stanford students have struck a chord up north in San Francisco, and his speech is rapidly going viral. [/snip]
I would challenge that statement. The blacks left by their own choice. They cashed out, selling high-priced homes for cheaper homes across the Bay. There has been an exodus in the last few decades, from over 15 percent to 6 percent now. Most decided to take the money and run to cheaper housing. Sell a home in SF for $800K, buy another in the East Bay for under $400K. Easy math. The other reason is that techies are moving into the city for the tech boom. Mostly whites and Asians taking tech jobs(I.T., biotech, medical etc.) A lot of blacks don't want to study hard sciences and seek those jobs. The industrial jobs are in the East Bay. Blacks aren't priced out, no more than whites and asians are priced out. Those that can do, stay, those who can't do, leave.
I think the other slant to the issue is that only 38-percent of the residents were born there in California. It’s a city made up of people who moved there, and aren’t part of the traditional San Francisco culture. Almost a third of the city wasn’t even born within the US.
hmmm “time and distance.”
The knife had not yet penetrated your throat, therefore you could have talked him out of killing you. Instead you shot him, now you have to stand trial for murder.
What’s the problem, San Francisco is a Sanctuary City.
Murderers need Sanctuary, no matter what color they are.
