After Ted Cruz dropped out of the presidential race, his campaign staffers boxed up their mementos and souvenirs as they prepared to shutter the Houston headquarters, and the Texan announced that he would seek reelection to the U.S. Senate.
Yet Cruzs team didn't abandon the race for the White House entirely. It still filed a slate of potential presidential delegates for Californias June 7 primary, and continues to monitor delegate selection in states that already voted in the GOP nominating process.
The end result is that Cruz will have more than 550 loyalists attending the Republican National Convention in Cleveland in July a ground force that helps him establish himself as the national leader of the conservative movement, protect the party's conservative platform from what the senator has called Trump's "New York values," and lay the foundation for a potential 2020 presidential bid.

Remember he didn't tell the people of Texas that he was a Canadian citizen...and tried to tell some sap story, which his college roommates come out and said he knew about it because he bragged to them about it...
Hey, at least with this lingering reminder, we know that Natural Born Canadian Cruz is VERY UNLIKELY to be Trump's VP, nor to ever have any support to ever run again. None. Best he find a new career as he likely won't win re-election. I know for myself, I'll donate to his opponent when he comes up for re-election. Primary him I very much hope.
With all due respect, that is total bull. Whether born of abject ignorance or willful misinformation is the question...
Sorry but that isn’t bull, those are the facts...research, since you have a computer and are on here, look it up for yourself, the rest of us did...
Bull? Not really. Even Cruz admitted earlier he wasn’t eligible. Besides, he lied to Texas residents to win his Senate seat. He’s lied many times since. He is a Canadian Natural Born Citizen, not American. Until he comes clean on this, there really cannot be anything further. Our Constitution is too important to toss aside for the convenience of a lying Canadian.
Ted Cruz needs to be an ex-senator come 2019. Texas has over 27 million people, a little less than 10 percent of the US population. And they have two complete duds as senators. Cornyn, and Ted Cruz. Much as it pains me to say it, David Dewhurst may have been the better choice in 2012. For all of his posturing and bloviating, Ted Cruz has done little as a senator. Can he point to even one bill that he sponsored that has actually passed? More importantly, can he point to even one bill that he has actually, definitively stopped?
The guy is a pariah in the senate. Nothing against pariahs, but they should at least accomplish something. And Ted has accomplished pretty much nothing. Except perhaps his support in getting TPA and then corker amendments through.
The folks in Texas deserve better. They deserve representation. They deserve a senator who wants to be a senator and actually wants to do his or her job.
As for the convention, I hope that Ted DOESNT endorse Donald Trump. Cruz is a bitter, self-promoting, Elmer Gantry of a politician. A case study in narcissism and blind ambition. His support is not needed and he actually does us more of a service by providing a rallying point for the lunatic fringe. Let his delegates wallow in their irrelevance.
Donald Trump, will have so many extra delegates, it will be winning over winning.
He needs those delegates to thwart off all attempts to rewrite the convention rules for 2016 and the proposed rules for 2020.
He will not allow non-winning candidates to run the RNC Convention and dominate / overwhelm the party platform.
All the remaining states need to participate with huge turnouts.
Trump is rallying in San Diego and Orange County next week. He will keep the momentum going. And this will reap benefits in November. Trump is not on Cruise control, he still running at 90 miles per hour.
2020? No. Why run against a successful Donald Trump Presidency? Maybe 2024...
At this point, cruznadians are the zombies of politics. They are just so undead for ted.
Cruzers, like Japanese soldiers on Pacific islands in 1952 refusing to surrender because (like Yeb Boosh and Barry Obama) a fanatical sense of Zen-like, Ivy League noblesse oblige entitlement—”This is owed to me”—precludes Felito from realizing:
“Life as you know it as Boy Wonder For The Ages is over, chum. The dogs don’t understand, sure—we’re just too stoopid to appreciate the wonder that is you. But we don’t like you. Go away.” td
What part is BS? He didn’t admit nor renounce Canadian citizenship until nearly 2 years after being elected to the Senate and classmates did say he bragged about it.
This wasn't mentioned often enough during the campaign but Ted Cruz was elected to the senate in 2012, took office in 2013, and virtually spent his entire time running for president since. The people of Texas were really done a disservice by Cruz, who used the senate seat as merely a stepping stone to something better.
Cruz would have been better served dedicating himself to the people of Texas and building a record of accomplishment in the senate. The kind of blind ambition we saw with Cruz the past few months was pretty alarming. The man decided to pursue the presidency at all costs and he did not seem to care how he got there. I would have to say that that kind of man is unfit for the presidency. BTW, we see that same kind of blind ambition with Crooked Hillary and she must be stopped or she will do the nation great harm.
I don’t think he knows any other speed that ‘full steam ahead’....Hillary isn’t going to be able to keep up with him, and Sanders is in better shape than she is, and he won’t be able to either...
GO.TRUMP.GO!!! ALL THE WAY TO THE OVAL OFFICE!!!
It’s always been a requirement to be a natural born citizen.
Ted is not special, why should we amend the constitution for him?
In my lifetime there have been over a dozen attempts to amend the constitution and allow for an alien born to meet the requirement.
All attempts have failed.
The 21+ states that were to require a certified American BC from POTUS candidates in order to be placed on their General Election ballots need to move forward and pass those bills. I believe only one has, thus far.
We have over 250 million Americans natural born, pick another.
And pick one with a ‘clean’ family history that shows American allegiance. Shoot, his father was a Cuban for 30 years and Canadian for 35 years. Did not become an American (2005) until Ted is working for Bush and able to clean up his records. What a farce.
I’m feeling that Hillary isn’t going to make it to the convention, between Trump and Sanders, she has no where to go but down...Trump smashed her ‘woman’s card’; she can’t run on her S. of S. record: Libya; Syria; smuggling guns through other countries to arm these countries; she can’t run on her Senate Seat, she did nothing; there isn’t anything she can run on...
Trump shot her down on the guns issue, Sanders is posing a huge threat, his supporters have a permit to ‘occupy the DNC’ that is going to get really ugly...
I think before this is over, Trump is the only one going to any convention...
Ego
Lol!
Food fight!
If Cruz had graciously dropped out after the New York-Five State win, he could had saved his career, as of now its Over.
You are embarrassing Okies everywhere, myself included.
Cruz forced the issue, now it’s moot. Let it go.
