Democrats knew a general election battle between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump would be rough, but many never considered the potential of a nailbiter.
During a primary in which Trump usurped the GOP establishment, alienated crucial sectors of the general electorate on issues like immigration and abortion and dinged his own approval ratings, many Democrats salivated at talk of a November duel with the billionaire.
Now, as Trump prepares for a general election showdown, veteran Democrats warn there is little room for complacency.
"It will be close," said Mark Alderman, a veteran Democratic Party fundraiser who worked on President Barack Obama's transition team.

HaHaHa!!!! Buzz saw named Trump! lol
In NH and MA, all I see are “Bernie” signs and stickers... And some Trump ones. No Liar-y ones — at all!
It’s going to be a slaughter.
We don’t even need the two or three dozen magazine, radio and TV novo-cons holding their breath and stamping their feet.
They can pound sand. Their new `rat friends will drop them Nove. 7th and they can form a club, pretend to be relevant.
Number one, I'd never use "nail" and "Hillary" in any sentence, ever.
Hahahahahahajahhaahahahahah
It will not be close, by October, if not before only the most democrat partisan will be presenting of buying that line.
Best case for Hillary is about 15 states and about 180 EC votes. More likely she’ll get 10 or less states and 125 EC votes or less.
Wishful thinking that this will be close
Oh, well, let’s ask CNN, the Clinton News Network.
A sweep would be sweet.
If CNN has to admit it’s a close race, Trump must be ahead in the real polls (not the ones they publicize) by 20 points.
A. 50. State. Land. Slide. Of. Biblical. Proportions.
Amendment10 ~ I agree. The title of the referenced article is political propaganda against Trump.
I disagree. The nail biting isn't over who gets enough votes to win, it's over whether there are enough legitimate votes to overwhelm the voter fraud.
Oh, well, let’s ask CNN, the Clinton News Network.
it will be fun to see her campaigning in a striped jump suit.
“I fully expect Barky Zero to read the tea leaves, then allow her to be indicted.”
If that happens, you’re gonna see a whole bunch of crap leaked to the press about Obama. Hillary isn’t going down alone (ask Huma).
I agree that ballot box stuffing is a possibility. We need to find out if Trump is willing to sue Democrats over alleged voting fraud if that time comes.
Google pops up several links of Trump having threatened to sue Cruz over alleged voting fraud. That a good sign imo.
On the other hand, given that Romney conceded to Obama without a fight, I think that Romney was part of the corrupt Washington cartel, following his script like a good boy.
Also, this is not just another presidential election. Lots of citizens are tired of being walked on by the unconstitutionally big federal government. This is why Trump essentially has Republican nomination already.
A major blue state will be red before polls across the Mississippi close, and, it will be over.
It will not be close.
I agree with your assessment. But...the “feel the Bern” crowd will go apeshit if he isn’t the nominee. Philadelphia will make Chicago look like a picnic.
Let them believe that it will be close. We will enjoy it all the more when it is a Trump landslide .
“it’s over whether there are enough legitimate votes to overwhelm the voter fraud.”
Maybe Trump will do something about poll watchers.
Depends on your definition of "nailbiter."
This question is a demand for an "opinion," and thus an exercise in intellectual masturbation on the part of the questioner.
As an opinion it is harmless. As a delusion of having the power of prescience, it is a profoundly pointless act.
The question, by definition has, or should have, absolutely no effect on future events.
My personal opinion?
I view it as an event with a beneficial effect on popcorn sales, with absolutely no effect, good or bad, on the ultimate reality.
