When I think about a fire, without an “explosion” I wonder what a pile of thermite would do if it were placed at the proper spot in the aircraft. That stuff would go through the body of the aircraft like a hot knife through butter. And it would be easy to get onboard.

Missiles have bombs. A standard military type would have to have it’s proximity fuse changed so the explosion wouldn’t happen outside the craft. Shouldn’t be hard to do.

How many ground personnel can access this space in the routine operation of the aircraft, in all of it's ground cycles, not to mention the exposure to unscheduled maintenance or service persons?
Another question is, can anyone on the cargo side of the avionics bay, enter this space? In other words, is there a hatch or door connecting the avionics bay to the cargo bay, and if so, would they need a key or special tool to access the space?
There is an escape hatch in the floor of the cockpit, with a ladder accessing the avionics bay, and another ladder in the avionics bay that permits the pilots to escape out of the bottom of the aircraft's nose, through an exterior hatch in the skin, so the avionics bay can be accessed from both the top side, as well as the bottom side.
Would the cleaning crew be tasked with cleaning the cockpit?
