The White House has been put on lockdown after a person was shot outside. Visitors wrote on Twitter that they saw 'lots of people with guns' after shots were heard. The shooting took place on 17th and E Streets NW at around 2pm, the United States Park Police said. It is not clear who has been shot or whether they have been killed.

The would be shooter was reportedly shot in the chest. In critical condition. ..this is from an early report so keep that in mind.

I just watched the dailymail video - the evacs, the JBTs all dressed in stormtrooper black with military weapons, the counter-assault team, the shelter in place, the prison terminology “on lockdown,” cameras everywhere etc.

Looks like it was a simple case of suicide by SS. Person approached a checkpoint near WH carrying a gun, and kept walking towards them. Their bad luck, was shot in the stomach and critical in hospital. So suicide attempt failed.
The perp was probably a transgender wanting to look up some skirts in the White House ladies room.
