Mary Litwin.....Hey guys. Steve and Gerry and I met with the Social Services Doc at Flagler today, and she was so kind. It could have been a very difficult conversation, but that old fart know's his own mind, as well as anyone within listening distance all the time. The doctors agree that there is no chance that continued Life Support will get him any closer to ever coming off of the mechanically controlled assistance to live his life the way he wants to.They have assured me that he is not aware of what he is going through.
Today, I signed the papers to take him off of all forms of support. They will not be acted upon until his brother Ed can get there Saturday morning to say goodbye. If anyone wants to see him before then, I've instructed them to not limit visitation to just Family. He's the guy that taught me that Family is not solely based on a blood relationship. He is in MICU room 3057. When we let him go on Saturday, he will have his favorite camera with him. I'd take his cat and his guns too, but I think that would cause a level of drama that would seriously upset the natives, and while it would amuse the hell out of him, I don't think the rest of us would fare as well. That's one mean damned cat, just saying.
I want for him to wake up tomorrow, rip the tube out of his throat, and say "Go get me a burger and a chocolate shake. The food here sucks."
Yes, I am trying to add some levity to a really crappy situation. If you don't know my Daddy, it may seem flippant. I can assure you that it is not. My Army Drill Sarge was by no means the first person to ever tell me to "Suck it up, Buttercup. Drive On."
I will be posting this on his FB wall as well, so forgive me if you have to read it twice. Love to All.......this is from Mary Litwin Bob's daughter
He is special.....
....always loved his sense of humor and the beautiful Florida wild life pictures.
Blessings and prayers
God love him.
I don’t know what happened. He had some health problems a few years ago but got better. Really makes one remember how fragile human life is.
I had a dear friend that had a sudden massive stroke at a young age and was put on life support. He was an organ donor, and the hospital talked the family into letting him go after only two days. I was the last one to visit him before they took him down to harvest his organs. I just thought they didn’t give enough time because they wanted his organs.
Lord Jesus Christ, be with Thy servant Bob in the hour of his passing.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, amen.
Praying.
please take me off this ping list...thank you
Godspeed Swamp, have always enjoyed the wildlife pictures
Prayers sent up!
Prayers sent
Prayers for SwampSniper, his friends and family.
Prayers for Swampsniper.
Our thoughts, and prayers are with SWAMPSNIPER, and his family. He will be missed. We don’t know him personally, but we think of him like family. A special sort of guy.
Mary, Your Dad was a good one. I never had the privilege of speaking to or meeting him, BUT, through all of his posts and photos (OH! those wonderful photos!) here at FR, know that he was much loved and respected.
Prayers up for you and your family, that Christ would be your strength and comfort in this time.
Nully, thanks for the post.
Godspeed Swampsniper, Jesus and Heaven await.
prayers for the warrior photographer...still love his photos from over the years.
Will pray for this lovely man and his family
Swampsniper, you were always one of my favorites.
I'm not related to Swampsniper in any way that I know of, indeed, I've never had the privilege of meeting him anywhere but on FR. Like you, I've always enjoyed his post, his wit and his superb eye for a good photograph.
He's an important part of the FR family, and I posted this news so we could all extend out best wishes, knowing that most of us would like to know to say our goodbyes and knowing that Mary is rather distracted. I hope that I've done the right thing by her and her family, and the FR family.
Please include her - Mary Litwin - on your To: line.
She already knows what a remarkable man he is, but I'd like to think she could take some comfort from knowing the rest of us do, too. And from knowing just how many lives he's touched, even of those who've never met.
Thanks for the memories and your photos of swamp wildlife made me try harder on my snapshots in my travels. Don’t forget to take a camera FRiend...
Heartfelt prayers being said.
Dearest Mary and family
You and ‘Sniper are in my prayers. I have no words.
‘Sniper is very special. Please let him know we’re routing for him and he is not alone. Positive thoughts and love across the miles for our dear FRiend.
