Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine Id earn the ire of a character named Turd Flinging Monkey, the nom de plume of a popular online activist. A leader in the Men Going Their Own Way (MGTOW) movement, which encourages men to avoid romantic relationships with women, Monkey did not take kindly to my new Prager University video talking up the benefits of marriage for men.
In the video, I noted, among other things, that married men work harder (about 400 more hours), smarter (theyre less likely to quit without having found another job), and more successfully (they make about $16,000 more per year) than their single peers. I described these as features, not bugs, of married life for men.

Bless you both, luv. :)

I am very risk averse, a do it yourself kind of gal who does not like the word “No”. You can guess which path I chose. To read your stories is very sad. I pray that the path you have chosen or will chose will lead you to peace and contentment.
If I had to do it over again knowing what I know now, I wouldn't have done it. I'd have run. That's probably why she didn't tell me. I've no idea why I've fought so long and hard for this marriage. It's been destined to fail and it's time to let it do just that.
I've actually considered doing something like that with one or more of the girls I have had over helping with the housework now and again. :)
Maybe some day. No worries, for now. I rather enjoy the privacy, truth be told, and women tend to slowly take over the environment once they get a foothold started.
Exactly. When men cheat we are disgusting dogs that only care about our own needs.
When women cheat it is because we didn’t show them enough attention and they felt neglected.
“It’s heart wrenching”
That’s the reason I felt that I should post something uplifting.
There’s certainly a place for casual dating. But you never know. You may eventually meet someone who changes your mind again!
Thank you Skooz. I do appreciate your support and kind words. For now, I wake up miserable and fall asleep miserable. My mind can think of little else and my life has no direction. I guess as you said, time will heal :(
Thanks very much for the advice usc. Never did I dream I’d be faced with divorce, since I waited till later in life to get hitched to the “right one”...stupid me...The Fool on the Hill :( I don’t have much more time to waste now...but I’d rather not live my senior years & die alone. FReegards, FRiend :)
I didn’t realize that. Somehow, it just figures. Godless communists being the first to abandon the holy sanctity of marriage.
Not in the USA. We’re not a theocracy.
Are you, for example, advocating for the adoption of Sharia Law here in the US as a solution to this problem?
Well, I am sad for you, too. She sounds a bit like my ex daughter in law. Psychologically and emotionally crippled but won’t get help. The crazy part took over quickly and she ran away before their 2nd anniversary. Easy divorce when nobody knows where she is.
I hope you find true happiness.
(And as a side note, I want to put all my daughters into a convent after reading this thread)
I agree and I’m only 58
Women have largely gone sour and rotten and coupled with so many irresponsible men
It’s killing us
Women have been convinced by ugly unhappy women that all women are something they are not nor will ever be
The equal of men in a harsh natural state of existence which was the norm till only very recently
Oh, you all did note that I had NOT gone through her purse but happened to notice a slip of paper stuck between two couch-cushions, yes?
Just pointing out that according to her I MUST have gone through her purse to have found that slip of paper, and of course she immediately discounted the statement that it was simply found not discovered after digging about her purse in any way.
The fact that she had cheated was totally irrelevant, of course (according to her responces)!
Not that it makes a difference at this point...
Great thread!
You should write a book...or have you?
Yes.
I have not, although I have thought about it. It’s just such a nuanced topic that the average person would take time to read a 300 page book on the history of American Family Law.
People have no idea what the ABA, Feminist Legal Movement, and Critical Legal Studies have done to the modern family. It’s why I don’t look down upon or counsel young Christian men I know that live together with long-term girl friends. I understand why they don’t want to contract with the state. And make no mistake about it, when you marry, you are contracting with the state to act as an arbitrator in your marriage. Why do you think the government gives you such an economic inventive to sign the state marriage contract? It’s all about power and controlling just what is marriage. It’s essentially turning over your spiritual relationship to a secular court. Just as Paul warned us not to sue fellow Christian brothers and sisters in secular courts, I would think submitting a Christian marriage to secular court is just as bad.
“>Heck, on this very Conservative Forum there are many people who choose to cohabitate with their significant other without the benefit of Marriage.
Only one of the friends I grew up with is still married and his wife regally cheats on him. He cant divorce her because it will destroy his small business. So he pretends its not happening(no kids) and I used to follow her adventures on face book before I deleted my account. His brother wisely decided to have kids without signing the sate contract and his girlfriend(Really his wife in all but name) is much more faithful to him and his home life happier because he can split any moment he chooses. Signing up for state marriage gives them women all the power and they tend to abuse it.
Im not saying the situation is right, but given the alternatives men are making rational choices.”
Precisely. Signing the state contract essentially gives the women the benefit of the state protection racket.
