The notion of a 2-for-1 Clinton presidency is back.
Recalling sunnier days of growth, low unemployment and budget surpluses under her husband, Hillary Clinton is telling Americans that Bill Clinton will be "in charge of revitalizing the economy" if she wins the White House.
What his work would be remains unclear: not a cabinet post, she indicated. But, as she has been saying for months, she expects him to play a leading role.
Bill Clinton reigned over a strong economy, especially in the final years of his presidency, yet his economic legacy is mixed.
The late 1990s were the last period to see sustained income gains for the typical American household. Middle-income wages have stagnated since then.
But his refusal to step up regulation of exotic financial instruments known as derivatives was blamed in large measure for the collapse of the financial sector years later. The tech bubble of his time burst. And his agenda was driven by support for free trade deals, including one that gave China better access to the U.S. market, that are held responsible by elements of both parties for driving jobs out of the country.
Still, in those pre-9/11 days, it's a stretch of peace and prosperity like Americans haven't seen since and with her latest remarks, in Kentucky, Hillary Clinton is more firmly laying out how important he would be to her agenda.

Except in 1992 the 2 for 1 pitch was that Al Gore would be the co-president.
She has already served her two terms. Not qualified. LOL! But really, does she think she’ll attract undecideds by dangling Bill in the White House again?
Bill Clinton was a rapist!!! and During his presidency, when he wasn’t getting oral sex from an intern or fondling Kathaline Willie— he did nothing for the economy!! It was NEWT!! and the contract for America!!that saved us from Clinton’s decadence.
Newt. If Trump doesn’t pick him, he’s missing a grand opportunity. Who better to stick it to the Clintons??
Juan Peron and Evita come to mind. Corrupt dictators.
“Bill Clinton reigned over a strong economy”
How stupid ARE people, anyway?
Bill and Hillary are incompetent and bad enough on their own
Together they bring a very bizarre dysfunctional interpersonal dynamic to anything they do
Trump on Hannity last night finished her off...”The Sexual and Abuse Enabler” has nothing to promote herself on anymore, she can't use the ‘woman card’ because the women slick willy sexually abused are coming out with their stories, she can't use her ‘It Takes A Village’, her village has burnt down, she can't use her Senate Seat, she did nothing; she is finished, over, done, not-ta, zilch...
...another one bit the dust...
I have been pushing Newt a long time for VP. He just gets stronger am stronger. Trump was on Hannity last night talking about Clinton’s rape of Juanita Broderick and they shifted to VP. When Trump talked about Newt — He was smiling!! It was a big TELL!!
Hillary Clinton has been a national political figure for 24 years - a span equivalent to the contiguous terms of Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, and Bush 41.
Think of all the changes in society, science, technology, medicine, art, music, films, fashion, business and sport as well changes affecting nations abroad that took place during those presidents’ time in office.
If Hillary Clinton had anything interesting, profound, intelligent or original to say wouldn’t we have heard it by now?
Excellent point. She seems to be stuck in the 1980s
Just another good reason for her to NOT be the next POTUS. I doubt Bill is going to make it. Have you seen him lately? He does not look well.
The lip-biting, serial rapist and rug-munching bull dyke pulled this same scam 25 years ago: “Two low-lifes for the cost of one!”
The economy is like large ship. The course was already set. All Bill had to do was keep his hands off the wheel.
In fact, as CNNs Brooke Jackson has reported: Three days before Christmas 1992, the National Bureau of Economic Research finally issued its official proclamation that the recession had ended 21 months earlier. What became the longest boom in U.S. history actually began nearly two years before Clinton took office. See (See http://www.cnn.com/2001/US/10/31/jackson.recession.primer.otsc/).
By the same token, Clinton is generally perceived as having a stellar economic record during his own presidency, in spite of the fact that the economy was already starting to decline during the last year of his term after the stock market crashed in March 2000.
According to a report by MSNBC: The longest economic expansion in U.S. history faltered so much in the summer of 2000 that business output actually contracted for one quarter, the government said Wednesday in releasing a comprehensive revision of the gross domestic product. Based on new data, the Commerce Department said that the GDP the countrys total output of goods and services shrank by 0.5 percent at an annual rate in the July-September quarter of 2000. I agree with you, but there are still the uneducated masses that will vote for her if she promises more free stuff. That's all they care about. In a sane world there would be voter ID's and people with and IQ below room temperature should not be allowed to vote.
Trump is the person to bring America back, 100% to bring America back, you have to quit being so ‘downer debby’ and have faith in what he is doing...
As I’d commented elsewhere, from the feud with Megyn Kelly to calling Liawatha Warren “Pocahontas,” Trump has been sending a clear message to Clinton:
“I’m coming after you in a personal way you won’t like, you cannot defend against and you can’t stop me from doing it. I don’t give a damn if you’re a woman. The gloves are off and for the first time in your life you are going to get the righteous ass-kicking you deserve. And you can’t do anything about it.”
“What his work would be remains unclear”
Bill hasn’t banged Hillary in decades. His role would be First Pimp Daddy
