Wilmette Police "are seeking to check the well-being" of the 49-year-old, they said in a brief press release. Police were called after O'Connor "left the Wilmette area" for a bicycle ride at 0600 local time on Sunday, and had not returned after more than a day. No more information is currently available, police say.
O'Connor became a global star in 1990 with the worldwide hit Nothing Compares 2 U, a song written by Prince. She has recorded 10 solo albums but has also made headlines with controversial outbursts throughout her career. In 1992, she ripped apart a photo of Pope John Paul II during a live television broadcast and has been a strong critic of the Catholic Church over its handling of the child abuse scandal.

This having happened in the Chicago area and the woman having gone out alone at 0600, there’s at least a reasonable chance of foul play, a lone woman on a bike being a pretty easy target.

WHERE is “Wilmette”?
I'm inclined to agree.However,two things make me wonder 1) at this time of year you get full daylight at 0600 2) although I don't know Chicago well I think I've read that Wilmett is a fairly prosperous,if not *very* prosperous,suburb.If I'm correct about Wilmett it would seem to lessen the chances of foul play.
She strikes me as someone with schizophrenia, who was violently raped as a girl.

She was not in Chicago. She was on a bike in a very wealthy suburb. She was on meds. Or not on the meds she should have been taking. She is a complete wack, and she is likely to be found somewhere hiding out. Her facebook says that she is sure they are out to get her and her son.

Prince created a lot of singing stars, for which he didn't get enough credit. A lot of so-called stars can't create what they sing. Prince could, and did. Kick-started a lot of careers.
