Ted Cruz said Thursday that those who contributed to the rise of presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump will have to "bear that responsibility going forward."
Cruz appeared Thursday evening on the Houston-based "Michael Berry Show" and was asked whether he thought he was treated fairly in the GOP primary, with the host mentioning Fox News.
"Well listen, there's time for recriminations and you know, everyone who was responsible for the rise of Donald Trump, they will bear that responsibility going forward," Cruz responded.
"But there were more than a few players that played a disproportionate role in that rise," he added. "I'm going to focus, instead of looking backwards, I'm going to focus on looking forwards."
Cruz returned to Capitol Hill on Tuesday for the first time since dropping out of the GOP race but declined to endorse Trump, who is working to shore up support from establishment Republicans.
"I think we left it all on the field," Cruz said Thursday. "My one regret is that we came up short."
Cruz said he'll address the Texas GOP convention Saturday afternoon.
"The biggest message I'm going to say is simply 'thank you,'" Cruz said.
He'll rally Republicans with a message that "although the results may not have been as we wanted, that together we started a movement and this movement will continue."
Cruz said he wasn't sure if he'd address the national GOP convention in Cleveland in July, but he indicated he planned to attend out of an obligation to the some 600 delegates he won during the primary.
"I don't know if I'll have a role at the convention or not, but I'll certainly be there cheering on the delegates," he said.
He is doing the GOP Establishment’s dirty work.
They want Hillary in office; how they accomplish that goal makes no difference to them. Find idiots to give $115 million dollars to Jeb Bush or have Teddy boy keep up the insurgency.
They “win” their Uniparty objective either way.
Just a damned bunch of phonies who want their gravy train, NOT the TRUMP TRAIN!
I read somewhere that Trump lent him a jacket for that photo because he didn’t have one that day.
Trump is a much bigger man, and that’s why Cruz looks so odd in the pic.
Yeah, after 18 years on FR I AM concerned - concerned that people are more interested in shooting the soldier next to them than firing downrange at the enemy!
***
Then WHY aren’t you condemning Cruz? Because HE’S the one who’s been doing it ever since the Indiana primary!
The Trump loaned Cruz a jacket is a Cruz-supporter myth. In fact, Cruz has a fetish for ill-fitting clothes. Pay particular attention to the photo of Cruz in a trench coat. One hand is completely engulfed in the sleeve, while only the fingertips are visible from the other.

C'mon. Supreme Court would be amazing. Perhaps the libs will hate him so much, he'll drive them into retirement....or worse.
Not too surprised on that one. I’ve seen a couple dozen posts or so. 11thCommandment went too, yesterday.
Did you see on that thread where I had my Christianity questioned and my character slammed, and Trump insulted just for politely asking him to respect JR’s wishes and take it elsewhere? Yikes.
We’ll have to “bear the responsibility” going forward? I prefer to think that we’ll “share in the credit” going forward.
“Ted Cruz stands for everything this site stands for. You naysayers ought to be ashamed of yourselves.”
That’s sort-of hilarious. Pretty much every action he took, everything he said, and every person he aligned with was wrong.
I’m still saying, “Nay” to Ted. (And who ever thought there could’ve been a sorer loser than Gore?)
“Notice the plaques and accomplishments behind Trump in the picture.”
Knowing now what I know about him, I ask, “What took him so long?”
Do you not remember when Cruz said/implied that those who supported Trump were stupid? Note to Ted: Don’t insult people you’re trying to win over to your side.
“Then Trump turned on Cruz”
IIRC, Trump didn’t “turn on” Cruz until Iowa after Cruz took the first shots. Shot #1: Cruz sent bogus notices to citizens to intimidate them. Shot #2: Cruz “fixed” the election by lying about Carson dropping out of the race. Trump never takes the first shot.
There no indication at all that the Senate would approve a
Cruz nomination to anything, court included.
Thanks, I had forgotten the exact scenario of Trump-Cruz machinations that launched the bitter rivalry.
The Cruz we though we knew on Jan. 1, 2016, is not the same person now. Many who attack him though should instead aim their fire at Mrs. Bill. However, they probably are frustrated expecting Mrs. Bill wo win in an electoral-vote landslide.
You would do well to follow your own advice.
Sealing documents, dodging the womanizing questions and whining about FOX made voters skeptical.
If the Enquirer published a picture and story erroneously linking my dad with Oswald, I would be really angry and would take legal action. If Cruzs dad was associated with LHO, what a story he has to tell!
Cruz is young. Hell regroup and be a great candidate next time.
