Cruz: Those who bolstered Trump 'will bear that responsibility going forward'
The Hill ^ | ay 12, 2016, 09:45 pm | By Jesse Byrnes

Ted Cruz said Thursday that those who contributed to the rise of presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump will have to "bear that responsibility going forward."

Cruz appeared Thursday evening on the Houston-based "Michael Berry Show" and was asked whether he thought he was treated fairly in the GOP primary, with the host mentioning Fox News.

"Well listen, there's time for recriminations and you know, everyone who was responsible for the rise of Donald Trump, they will bear that responsibility going forward," Cruz responded.

"But there were more than a few players that played a disproportionate role in that rise," he added. "I'm going to focus, instead of looking backwards, I'm going to focus on looking forwards."

Cruz returned to Capitol Hill on Tuesday for the first time since dropping out of the GOP race but declined to endorse Trump, who is working to shore up support from establishment Republicans.

"I think we left it all on the field," Cruz said Thursday. "My one regret is that we came up short."

Cruz said he'll address the Texas GOP convention Saturday afternoon.

"The biggest message I'm going to say is simply 'thank you,'" Cruz said.

He'll rally Republicans with a message that "although the results may not have been as we wanted, that together we started a movement and this movement will continue."

Cruz said he wasn't sure if he'd address the national GOP convention in Cleveland in July, but he indicated he planned to attend out of an obligation to the some 600 delegates he won during the primary.

"I don't know if I'll have a role at the convention or not, but I'll certainly be there cheering on the delegates," he said.

No we are anti-Hilliary and now Cruz is campaigning for her, so he is the same boat we want to sink. There is nothing honorable about either of them.

I would have gone with Peter Popoff's scam (parodied in "Fletch Lives" or Robert Tilton. Or this guy who gets you triple-favor with God. For only $1000 (along with David Cerullo).

Without class. If Cruz wants to move forward, he will support Trump who was the choice of the the voters. The objective should be to defeat Hillary, not wallow in your own defeat.

“why not focus on HILLARY and STOP attacking Cruz?”

Question/suggestion to Cruz and his supporters:

“Why not focus on Hillary and stop attacking Trump?”

Cruz did not win. Trump is the presumptive Republican nominee, so all Republicans and conservatives, including original Cruz supporters should now support Trump.

Why isn’t Cruz doing it?

“I still think Ted’s going to try something at the convention.”

Would explain Limbaugh’s strange behavior regarding Trump. Has Limbaugh ever acknowledged that Trump is the nominee?

I listened to him briefly Wednesday; he was again claiming that one “expert” claimed that the delegates are empowered to choose the candidate, not the voters in the primaries.

Actually, the Freepers that supported and donated to Cruz last year, saw a different Cruz emerge this year. They saw a Cruz who surrounded himself with scumbags and scoundrels, and who allowed himself to be controlled by the establishment to stop Trump while living a fantasy that he was some sort of outsider.

There were a lot of Freepers that were astonished, hurt, angered, in disbelief that his Cruz person could be so stupid as to act the way he did. Oh sure, he could talk Constitution and push some conservative buttons, but he revealed to reasonable people, people that had supported him, that he had a screw loose.

He turned out to be an embarrassment. Now those erstwhile supporters can’t stand to hear him or see him, and they certainly don’t want him in any position of authority.

His “naysayers” as you call them, are a lot smarter about behavior than you can know, and they know he’s bad news.

We dodged a bullet by not nominating this egomaniac.

What.A.Jerk. To think how much I wanted him to be VP. Now I realize that all those months he was sitting there silent while Trump went after others, he was actually despising Trump and just letting others take the bullets. What a duplicitous douche.

I just wanted to see that in print again.

I was finished with Cruz when he blamed Trump for the actions of the protestors in Chicago who caused Trump to cancel his rally. These were communists and anarchists paid to silence Trump. It had nothing to do with Trump’s language or actions.

I like your comments to Ted. One red flag that I ignored in voting for him in the March 1 TX primary is that he gives NOTHING to his church.

Did Cruz take breaks to bang a Bible on the table, or did he do it while he was talking?

I hope the host’s eardrums survived the dentist’s-drill voice of Cruz in his headset.

Cruz didn’t start ANY movement. All he did was pick up the baton from Jeb! and carry it for a few months before collapsing in a heap.

As a Cruz voter on March 1, your post tells it all. That’s why I had no trouble going with Trump. If I could stomach the past nominees, why not Trump?

As if the Iran vote wasn’t enough, that more than finished it for me. He sunk to any low. He became Jeb Bush the Second.

Gee, you act as though he should just waltz right along with someone who accused his father of being involved in the Kennedy assassination. Normal people aren’t able to just do that on a whim.
