Anyone here knows exactly how and why they operate in DC. They couldn’t care less about citizens. As a matter of fact they are tripping over themselves to show how little they care for citizens by pandering to illegal aliens and refugees who have never stepped on US soil.

“’My main job is to keep my job, to get reelected. It takes precedence over everything.’”

Thus the absolute requirement for STRICT term limits, no exceptions. Politics should not be a career. Ever. Further, it is way, way past time that the American public stop believing that people in public office are somehow smarter than the rest of society. The reality is quite the opposite. There are surely bright people, but also many very shallow people whose primary skill set is the ability to bs well. That's not what we need to secure a prosperous and happy future.

It’s far easier than you think to manipulate a nation of naive, self-absorbed sheep.

Any questions on how Obama got elected twice and why anybody would vote for Hillary.

I bet the people who voted for him feel pretty good about themselves right now. He should be fired.

First Grayson vs. Reid, now this. I wonder, is this book by Grayson himself that is the author. Nah, he can’t string two coherent sentences together.

Supposedly the last time 65% of eligible US voters voted in national elections was back in 1908, less for state and local. It hasn’t broken that since, a lot of them being below 55%. At least by any thing that I have seen.

Supposedly the 10% of dumbest voters, the ones that manage to vote, but vote one way and then another but can’t usually coherently explain why, are the ones that decide these elections. That’s what swing voters are, right? The people who the campaign money is meant to manipulate into voting or not voting at all based on political ads? Or vote based on how well attended a political really seems to be, or how well the media said a candidate did in a debate. The swayable.

It’s a wonder we aren’t worse off, considering. The problem is that we would probably be even worse off if more people voted, as I suspect the swing voters would only increase as a %.

Most of my colleagues are dishonest career politicians who revel in the power and special-interest money that's lavished upon them,' the author writes.
'My main job is to keep my job, to get reelected. It takes precedence over everything.'

If you understand human nature, that is to be expected.

If you don't like it, you should pay attention and get active in opposing it.

But most of us, at least in the Boston area have more important things to think about like, will David Ortiz have a great last baseball season, or how will Tom Brady's 4 game. football suspension work out. -Tom

This could be a Republican author, as well. I doubt if, behind closed doors, there is any differance in the attitude toward voters or the sole priority to keep power.

I think they all morph into a single beast once they step foot in DC.

Tinfoil Conspiracy Hat Time:

Congressman X does not exist. Trump paid to have this book ghostwritten in order to further stoke the flames of populist outrage against the D.C. establishment.

At least that’s what I would have done.

saying that his main job is to raise money for re-election and that leaves little time for reading the bills he votes on.

And our founders knew this and set up a government to prevent costly elections. But we have screwed this up with direct elections of senators and large congressional districts. My favorite example is to point out that I am FB friends with my state rep! And I mean his real FB, not the one made and monitored by consultants. Can you imagine if Congressmen had to knock on doors for votes how our country would changes. It is too bad the Thirty thousand.org suit did not go anywhere!

And professional politicians of all stripes differ from the average voter in what way? For 99%+/- of the population, everything is about, ‘ME! ME! ME!’.

There shoul be term limits for pols and ‘platinum’ pensions for pols s/b eliminated. Platinum pensions? Yvonne Fritz served as MLA in the Alberta Legislation from June 15, 1993 – May 5, 2015. She received $873,000 CDN upon retiring. (NOTE: This is in addition to her annual salary of $134,000 plus any additional allowances, all subject to adjustment for inflation.) It is no wonder pols spend most of their time working on re-election! MONEY, MONEY, MONEY!

A new Amendment for term limits.

Repeal the 16th and the 17th Amendments.

A new Amendment that defines natural born citizen as one born in this country with two citizen parents.

It’s time.

If they aren’t reading the bills, we should be shoving some seriously conservative language in them.

However, I suspect there is some sort of “gentleman’s agreement” to avoid inserting controversial items in them, just to keep the Uni-Party scam going a bit longer.

:(
