Ted Cruz poised to challenge Trump in Texas
POLITICO ^ | May 11, 2016 | KYLE CHENEY

Ted Cruz isn’t giving up.

While Donald Trump dispatches three advisers to Texas’s convention in Dallas this week and makes a pitch for party unity, his team will be running up against a Cruz operation that is still maneuvering to stuff the state’s delegation with allies the senator could call on to snub the presumptive nominee.

“We have a busy weekend planned,” said a source familiar with the Cruz campaign’s plans.

Cruz is scheduled to deliver an address at the Texas convention after a week of hinting he could jump back into the presidential contest and urging activists to thwart the New Yorker’s takeover of the GOP’s policy platform. And despite dropping out of the race more than a week ago, the vanquished presidential contender has deployed at least one paid adviser to the Texas Republican convention – Tyler Norris, his state director. (Trump has three advisers: state director Joshua Jones, deputy director Eric Mahroum and Houston-area director Kayla Hensley.)

It’s not just Texas where Cruz is still playing.

The senator’s team remains active in several of the other eight state conventions selecting delegates this week – from Nebraska to Oklahoma to Nevada. Those conventions, along with party meetings in Arkansas, Florida and Wisconsin, will be selecting 389 national delegates, nearly a sixth of the entire convention.

If Cruz were still working to send the nomination fight to a contested convention, this weekend’s delegate hunt would have been the main event – the largest single delegate selection weekend of the primary season. Now, it’s become a display of Cruz’s last hardcore bastions of support and a forum for Trump to appeal for unity.

This is just stupid.

Ted, I supported you, donated to your campaign, promoted you to friends and family.

It’s time to pack up your tent and GO HOME.

Please.

"Cruz is trying to buttress up his own support to have some influence over the platform."

If so, then he's stupid, not smart, because this is the worst possible way to having any influence with anything Trump has a say so on.

1 Time in My Life I agree with Lindsey Graham

Someone could murder Ted Cruz on the Senate floor and not get convicted

Convention platform and rules?

Third Party?

http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/daily/2016/05/11/is_a_third_party_run_still_possible

RUSH: Here's a problem with that, though. Any third-party candidate is gonna have to get on ballots by the end of next week. I mean, the signing deadline and the deadline for signatures, petition, whatever the hell you have to do in all 50 states, it's upon us. You couldn't decide, I don't think, to go third party in August. Now, I say that. I could be wrong about it, but I don't think it works that way. I don't think you can just announce, because you have to go through a whole lot of procedures to get your name on the ballot. Otherwise anybody can run any time they wanted.

So there's some thresholds that have to pass. Bill Kristol is trying to find somebody to do that very thing now, trying to find anybody to run against Trump as a third party hoping to throw the race to the House of Representatives. Now, here's one thing, Mary. The House of Representatives can pick anybody. They don't have to pick from the existing candidates.

If you've got three people running for president and none of them get to 270, the House can — the Republicans would pick the next president, because whoever holds the majority in the House — I mean, the Democrats would try to blow the joint up, but it's the Republicans that have the majority, and if they were unified on a candidate, that's who would be the next president. And as far as I know — oh, wait, somebody’s telling me that 12th Amendment says that the House can only pick between the top three vote-getters in the general election. That I was unaware of. So that would be a noneffective way for Cruz to throw his hat back in the ring. I think.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: The deadline to be on the ballot as a presidential candidate third party in Texas is already past. If you can't get on the ballot in Texas as a third party, especially if you're Ted Cruz, then what's the point? It's a nonstarter. The 12th Amendment essentially says that the House must pick between the top three vote-getters in the general election.

It says: “The person having the greatest number of votes for president, shall be the president, if such number be a majority of the whole number of electors appointed; and if no person have such majority,” 270, “then from the persons having the highest numbers not exceeding three on the list of those voted for as president, the House of Representatives shall choose immediately, by ballot, the president.”

So if nobody gets 270, the House chooses but can only choose from the top three vote-getters. Republicans run the House, so it stands to reason that they would select Trump, it stands to reason. But, believe me, this is one of the strategies, I guarantee you, that they're planning for in the House leadership that they could get. That's why Bill Kristol’s doing what he's doing. Don't think that's an off-the-wall effort that's not attached to anything.

Remember, some of these people are on record saying they would rather vote for Hillary than Trump. Some of these Republicans. We have spent time talking about that on this program the past months. A bunch of Republicans have been quoted as saying so, elected Republicans, House, Senate members and so forth, and others.

So, hey, look, this is gonna be exciting all the way through, folks, for a host of reasons. I'm actually thinking of taking a couple days off of my eight weeks of vacation coming up and just do seven weeks and two days. I'm just kidding.

When he was a teenager they asked him what he planned to do with his life and he said “rule the world!”

So maybe the Bushes did owe his daddy, Rafael, a big favor. We know the Bushes planned a new world order which would have a leader who “ruled the world”.

##############

I do think Rafael Sr. and “Ted”, not his real name, have been spook projects of some sort for a long time. The mythological rise of these cranks is not credible.

I just did some quick research "Evangelical Christians and Gambling". It's part of their religious principles to not gamble. I'm confused. If someone paid for Heidi and Ted to be in the "millionaires circle", that's maybe not gambling but it's a questionable gift. Does anyone go to the Kentucky Derby and not place a bet?

And, oh yeah. After all that time on the campaign trail, it's surprising they weren't home with the kids.

In my mind, the issue is hypocrisy.

All that being said, I'd imagine one can go to the Kentucky Derby and not gamble. But, my gosh, the optics of being at a place where money is so freely tossed around while begging his supporters for campaign donations? I really don't know where Ted and Heidi are coming from.

“I’m sure the Libertarian Party views this cycle as a perfect opportunity to get on the map.”

They are indeed. On Facebook wars they are making every effort they can to gather up the defecting Cruzlims and GOPe. I have laughed at them, and pointed out that they are seeking to include the most embittered, self righteous and uncompromising element of the neocons and Dominionists, into the LIBERTARIAN party. It is quite amusing, and they deserve each other.

The Libertarians have done nothing with the power vacuum of the past decade. Nothing.

In a strange way, a third party candidate could actually work in our favor.

Gives the deluded nevertrump types a place waste their vote rather than voting Hillary out of spite.

While some of the base is lost to Trump, a non vote, or third party vote is not as damaging as a direct vote for Hillary.

Cruz didn't even congratulate Trump on his IN victory and his donors are now Hillery's donors. If you think Cruz is a good Conservative you're in for a lot of disappointment. Cruz and Rubio have been given their Marching orders to fight Trump's America first policy.

Snakes.

Once Trump makes it through the convention, he can just tell the GOPe to pound sand and resume his run a outsider running alongside what patriots remain in the GOP.

A true hostile takeover and reset.

My guess is that Cruz may have a hard time winning re-election. I think he will draw one or more primary candidates.

I think Trump's kids have a future in politics ... so maybe Texas Senator Ivanka Trump?
