Cruz Running for Re-election in 2018
Texas Tribune ^ | 5-11-16 | Patrick Svitek

Posted on 05/11/2016 11:33:55 AM PDT by bigbob

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, plans to run for re-election in 2018.

Cruz, who ended his presidential campaign last week, said "yes" when asked Wednesday morning by a reporter in Washington, D.C., if he would seek a second term, according to CNN and The Hill. Cruz's office later confirmed the exchange.

The announcement adds some clarity to Cruz's political future following his decision to exit the presidential race on May 3. While Cruz could change his mind, running for re-election in 2018 puts to rest some speculation he would sit out a second term to prepare for a comeback bid for the White House in 2020.

Cruz was first elected to the Senate in 2012, when he upset then-Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst in the Republican primary to replace Kay Bailey Hutchison.

just for the record, the comments on this threat are running about 3 to 1 against Cruz. Slightly better than he did in the FR Caucus.

If the GOP tries to primary him that would be bad

It'll be WTP that goes after him, not the GOP.

Because Trump nicknamed him “lyin’”... or somethin.’

Fascinating to me how Trump supporters from states such as California or NY try to pick our senator for us, when they haven't had a Pubbie Senator for decades.

Clean up your own damn house, then get back to me.

Can't wait to see tough guy Pete King go west of Buffalo, to support any opponent of Cruz.

You don’t get it.

Sen Cruz is NOT apart of the GOPe. They came to him only after Jeb, after Christie (now on Trump’s team), after Rubio, after Kasich, and only when there was no one else, decided to go crawling to Cruz only because the think Trump will cost them down ticket. They hate Cruz because of his policies and the fact that he will fight for conservative principles. Trump they can work with, but they don’t want to risk their power base.

I don’t have a problem with Goldman-Sacks or Wall Street in general. It is the lefties, Democrats, Sanders and Hillary supporters that I know who have a problem with Wall Street. But if getting loans from Goldman is a problem for you, consider the fact that Donald Trump has had hundreds of millions of dollars in loans from Citibank and Goldman, some of which have been repaid, some of which were discharged in bankruptcy when Trump’s Altantic City casino went belly up.

No, it's people like you that doesn't get it and what this country is up against. You welcome crony capitalism as well as the globalists coming in to try to take down this country. Ted Cruz, during this primary, proved beyond a shadow of a doubt, he will side with the crony capitalists and globalists over the good of this country.

Your ignorance, or failing to see the enemy within, makes you part of the problem.

I would have ignored these Cruz supporters but they are just nuts for one man and ignore all the vetting that has been done on both candidates here. They are beyond supporters and are extreme fanatics. They need to be reminded of these things.

Let me know how much you donate to your liberal pal so I can double your donation and send it to Cruz.

Are you so blind that you can not see that Trump was a crony capitalist buying influence for 40 years? Trump, to his credit, admits it but guys like you? You will not acknowledge truth. Pathetic.

Is that you Dewhurst? I for one Texan am very happy with Cruz as my Senator. More comfortable with him than Cornyn.

I'll second that notion. With the exception of Cruz and a couple of House Reps, the entire Texas Congressional delegation has been a disaster. When they're back in Texas, they sound Texas tough, but when they return to DC, their spines become gelatinous.

Are you suggesting Cruz represents conservatives?! You're kidding or being sarcastic, correct?

You have a choice between GOPe conservatism of Cruz and others that is too often lip service and lies, else some commonsense conservatism represented by Trump, who has the votes to back his winning position up.

Let's look at Cruz's support: Nebraska 18%, West Virginia 9%, and most states with about 25% on average. 75% and more REJECT Cruz. It is over, he lost.

Your conservatives have a simple choice: Clinton or Trump. Any choice other than Trump is supporting Clinton. You choose.

Nor is 500% increase in H1B. Cruz is noted for taking legal action on sex toys and he is quite concerned with potties. Is this now the realm of conservatives?

Some of the people attacking Cruz were quick to point out how we are all supposed to play nice now that the primary is effectively over...

But they continue to attack one of the most conservative senators we have...a conservative senator who stood up when no one else or very few did.
A conservative senator, who if you believe behind the scenes stories, was helpful in getting Boehner out as speaker.

I tend to agree with you.

Do we want to elect a politician who will stay in his elected job and work for us at least for one full term, or do we want to elect professional campaigners, always on the road soaking up the audience applause and accomplishing little back at the office except cashing their paycheck?

Cruz and his supporters have not accepted their defeat, have not stood down, and have not gotten behind Trump. Lyn’ Ted lost, give it up and let’s all move on to help Trump win in November.

Duck Dynasty Patriarch Phil Robertson Joins Son – ‘Enthusiastically’ Endorses Donald Trump

Jim Hoft May 10th, 2016
‘Duck Dynasty’ patriarch Phil Robertson will support Donald Trump in the fall despite endorsing his rival Ted Cruz four months ago, he said Monday.

The reality TV star told DailyMail.com that ‘I’ll be enthusiastically behind him.’

‘Wow! Such a great honor to have Phil’s endorsement,’ the Republican front-runner responded Tuesday.

‘His son, Willie, has become a great friend of my son, Don. What a great family.’

Please, please, take a close look at Ted Cruz’ resume. What was he doing when he met his wife? Who did he help get elected as a lawyer in Florida in 2000? Whose Commerce Department did he work for after that?

The battle with David Dewhurst for the Senate set was so much Kabuki theater. They are both Bush retainers. The Bushes planned to use Ted’s naturally obnoxious personality to fool Conservatives into thinking he was one of them. Look at what he actually accomplished for Conservatives in the Senate.

Did he stop the Gang-of-Eight Bill in the Senate? No. Did he stop Trade Promotion Authority in the Senate? No. Did he stop the Corker Amendment that gave us the Iran Deal? No.

If you don’t have a problem with Wall Street in general or Goldman-Sacks in particular, then this tells me that you really aren’t paying attention. Your analysis of what happened in Atlantic City also shows that you don’t understand what actually happened. Atlantic City was going bust, and Donald Trump got out before it was completely gone. Making a bank eat the loan they gave you does not give them any leverage over you.

The people conservatives are standing up for are the little guys, the grass roots, small town conservatives. People who have been hurt by Obamacare and Universal Health Care (which Trump supports). The people who want to protect their freedoms including their religious freedoms.

What we are up against are people who don’t support conservatives or conservative principles. People who claim to oppose Obamacare but wont support the ONLY senator who actually used his power, what little that was, to oppose it on the floor of the Senate. DESPITE the anger of the GOPe, the UNIparty, and the MSM, put his principles to work to filibuster the worst expression of crony capitalism called Obamacare. Which puts government and the health industry in control over 1/6th of the US economy.

It is people who support the total expression of crony capitalism (DONALD TRUMP) and then refuse to see the problem. People who fault Cruz for a $1M loan from Goldman and refuse to see the hundreds of millions of loans to Trump. People who intentionally close a blind eye to Trump hiring illegals repeatedly for his different businesses.

It is YOUR willfull ignorance that is the problem.
