U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, plans to run for re-election in 2018.
Cruz, who ended his presidential campaign last week, said "yes" when asked Wednesday morning by a reporter in Washington, D.C., if he would seek a second term, according to CNN and The Hill. Cruz's office later confirmed the exchange.
The announcement adds some clarity to Cruz's political future following his decision to exit the presidential race on May 3. While Cruz could change his mind, running for re-election in 2018 puts to rest some speculation he would sit out a second term to prepare for a comeback bid for the White House in 2020.
Cruz was first elected to the Senate in 2012, when he upset then-Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst in the Republican primary to replace Kay Bailey Hutchison.
Is that you Dewhurst? I for one Texan am very happy with Cruz as my Senator. More comfortable with him than Cornyn.
You still don’t get it. Ted Cruz was a line jumper in the GOPee stable. He is a Bush family lawyer who got a little full of himself. After he fooled Sarah Palin into supporting him with “consistent conservative” talk and borrowed $1million from Goldman-Sacks, he thought he could recreate the Obama campaign on the Republican side of the Uniparty.
Sarah Palin wasn’t fooled the second time. Why were you?
Since your profile shows your not in Texas, I hope not.
Since your profile shows your not in Texas, I hope not.
“Futile filibuster”? Tell me about the other senators that tried to kill Obamacare. He got zero support from anybody.
Now let me see, who else has tried to destroy O’care...............crickets.
By 2018, if Trump is a failure, Cruz can be President. If Trump is a success, Cruz will have to wait 4 more years.
“Cruz reminded her of a mortician trying to sell you the most expensive casket”
OK, here we go. After seeing above the Tedster unintentionally throw a Ray Nitscke forearm into Heidi’s right chop ...
the next day Heidi talked to their insurance agent about more life insurance coverage, then she mentioned in passing to Ted that they might want to do some pre-funeral planning because, you know—we’ve all got to go sometime. Life itself is fatal.
So the couple went to the best funeral home in Austin. The funeral director laid out the red carpet for them.
He seated them in plush armchairs and they were served sweet rolls and coffee.
“Now, Senator Cruz. I’m thinking that a man of your stature—you will certainly want our `Royal Package’. That includes a horse drawn Victorian-era hearse, a marching band playing a dirge, a riderless horse with boots turned backward, one or both of your daughters coached, or a child actor, to salute you as you pass, a 900 square foot mausoleum, a ...
“No no no!” said Cruz. “Something simple.”
Taken aback, the mortician replied, “Very good. We have a premium package for persons of note. A marble vault with golden cherubs at all four corners. A choir, two harpists and ... “
“No.” said Ted.
By this time greatly confused, the undertaker gathered his thoughts then ventured, “OK then. A grade II bronze casket, a floral arrangement, a singer from your church ... “
By this time Cruz was perturbed. “All I want is a pine box, with the lid laid on, and hole in the ground with a piece of plywood laid over it! And I’ll only need it for three days.”
I can put my pants on my head and stand on the street corner with a bullhorn and call it “stopping Obamacare”, too, and I’d be just as effective.
There’s a big difference between substantive action and a shallow stunt.
How can you say that.
It’s obvious his community organizing in the south side neighborhoods of Chicago have made them into an urban nirvana...
He’s not running for President in 2018...nobody is. This is about running for Senate.

From what I have read Texas isn’t happy with cruz either....
You don’t get it.
Sen Cruz is NOT apart of the GOPe. They came to him only after Jeb, after Christie (now on Trump’s team), after Rubio, after Kasich, and only when there was no one else, decided to go crawling to Cruz only because the think Trump will cost them down ticket. They hate Cruz because of his policies and the fact that he will fight for conservative principles. Trump they can work with, but they don’t want to risk their power base.
I don’t have a problem with Goldman-Sacks or Wall Street in general. It is the lefties, Democrats, Sanders and Hillary supporters that I know who have a problem with Wall Street. But if getting loans from Goldman is a problem for you, consider the fact that Donald Trump has had hundreds of millions of dollars in loans from Citibank and Goldman, some of which have been repaid, some of which were discharged in bankruptcy when Trumps Altantic City casino went belly up.

Yep! The Barry Soetero election model, for those who don’t meet the constitutional requirement of being a Natural Born citizen.
Cruz/s political blunders make him look more and more like the late unlamented prez candidate, ex-Texas Gov Rick Perry. They are two stealth candidates trusting Texans hardly knew.
At first, Cruz (like Perry) looked good....prez material, even. Then candidate Cruz (like Perry) began admitting things that trusting Texans knew nothing about.
Gov Perry shocked his constituents when he admitted in a presidential debate that he was using trusting Texans tax dollars to give illegals in-state tuition...and that they were heartless b/c they did not like this use of tax dollars. (Perry also installed the country's first Sharia Court in Texas....active to this day).
Cruz heaped on the surprises:
<><> I didn't know I was a Canadian citizen when I ran for the Senate until the media exposed it.
<><> I told trusting Texas voters wifey and I were liquidating family assets so I could get into the Senate.
<><> I didn/t know I was supposed to tell the FEC I borrowed over a million from my Wall Street margin accounts to fund my campaign.
<><> I told Mark Levin the borrowed funds were used for campaign ads....but I didn/t report this as required.
<><> And so on and so forth, ad infinitum, ad nauseaum.

BACKSTORY In Texas, Cruz/s Senate election fairy tale has become legendary......portraying himself to trusting Texans as a scrappy populist putting everything on the line to overcome a wealthy establishment opponent.
He was whining in the media, telling trusting Texans that he, and his faithful little wife (a $700,000 globalist lawyer employed by G/S), were forced to liquidate their entire family savings (of slightly more than $1 million) to fuel a come-from-behind win in the Republican primary.
NOW TRUSTING TEXANS LEARN Cruz did not liquidate family assets.....he got his hands on over a million dollars from his hefty margin accounts at G/S and Citibank......and did not disclose this on FEC reports (to keep it a secret from trusting Texans).
Cruz did not disclose loans on FEC reports (required by law) b/c Texans would have discovered he was not the aw-shucks rube he pretended to be. He continued the rube act in order to milk votes from trusting Texans.
At the same time, he also did not disclose he was a Canadian citizen......the Harvard-educated lawyer w/ two Ivy League degrees said he didn't know.
When the Dallas Morning News published Cruz/s Canadian birth certificate, Cruz put trusting Texans through the charade of renouncing his Canadian citizenship.....even though Canada did not recognize dual citizenship at the time of his birth.
=============================================
Nowadays, these onetime Cruz supporters in Texas are airing their gripes----many are p!ssed at Cruz for not disclosing that as a Senate candidate, he was still a Canadian citizen. And is now expecting the whole country to rationalize that he's a NBC and eligible for the office......
Cruz got clobbered a long time ago...he just hasn't hit the floor, yet.
TPA and Coker were never conservative. Sorry his act has been seen through. He may be reelected but he will never be an honest conservative.
He won’t get my vote or any vote in this household.
A war starts with the first shot. Your reasoning is ridiculous. He proved by himself in that filibuster that the senate had no intentions of making any attempt to kill O’care under any circumstances.
