Ted Cruz supporters, and I am one, have a decision to make. My story on this decision starts on May 20, 2014, the night I had the great good fortune to attend a small dinner with Sen. Ted Cruz, to talk strategy and policy. Personally, I was skeptical of him and his chances in a potential presidential bid, which fluttered over the entire conversation like a smart, subtle butterfly.

Yup. I stay away from Cruz supporters the same way I stay away from liberals. Both groups support bad behavior.
From what I have read about Trump he is actually very nice in real life. What Cruz supporters might want to think about is why does Ted have no lifelong friends and yet Trump does?
Who wants them healed. The only word to describe Cruz is: "SNAKE"
He is a disgusting, vile, creature who should be mopping floors under urinals in an airport men's room.
Yeah, that and a few other things. And yet Cruz supporters continue to support and therefore condone his bad behavior.
By the time they assimilate or accept our American values, it will be 2100.
Too late for me -
but Obama + Bush + Romney + mcCain +Clinton + Congress keep letting them pour in to destroy us......
They could care less about America’s future.
But we know that ‘A country without borders is not a country’.
I see you did not address the fact that Ted Cruz has been “all talk, no action”.
I am speechless.
“Cruz is not malleable and will not DEAL with the devil.”
Oh? He sure dealt with the devil when he helped push through TPA, which then enabled ObamaTrade, via the TPP.
And how ‘bout that Corker vote? That was real saintly of Ted. The Iranian mullahs thank him.
Cruz’s ugly stuff towards Carson was a re-tweet by a Cruz staffer of exactly what CNN had tweeted. The only thing the Cruz camp might have done was to correct it as soon as CNN corrected the report. This is what Trump based the whole “Ly’n Ted thing on. Everything else Trump accused Cruz of was pretty much a lie on Trump’s behalf (i.e. the mistresses, Cruz’s father involved in the JFK assassination).
“Trump was extremely ugly to Cruz, largely for no good reason or truthfulness”
Trump used a highly effective negative branding technique to dispatch his opponents one by one in the primary race. What he was doing was demonstrating how you win in politics, and what he would do to Hillary Clinton if nominated.
Cruz and his supporters are taking it too personally. The Democrats do not hold their punches. They accuse Republicans of the most vile things, including racism, contempt for the poor and throwing grandmothers off the cliff in their wheelchairs. In 1964, with the famous “daisies” attack ad, they successfully branded Goldwater as a warmonger that would blow up the world. This is what we’re up against.
Anyone who has doubted Trump’s ability to win should by now be questioning their assessment of his political skills. He may not be able to win with the grace of Ronald Reagan, but at the time Reagan was being dismissed and ridiculed as well.
I hope that Cruz supporters will be able to rise above their hurt feelings and refocus on what is at stake in November.
Trump is the alternative and you said no to that?
“For those who are distressed about the truth when they are confronted by it, insisting that objective analysis be suspended on behalf of their candidate, it is worth noting that conservatives should be loyal to principles and not personalities.”
In light of the above, I wonder how you reconcile your undying support for a personality in the guise of Ted Cruz, with his parliamentary maneuvers to push through TPA, which was a prerequisite to passing ObamaTrade?
Please explain to us how Ted’s actions on that matter were the principled, conservative route, given that those actions ultimately resulted in handing Obama a level of power that gives him the means to truly achieve his “fundamental transformation of America.”?
That one believes that he has a special hotline to The Truth that is ignored by the Trump lumpenproletariat.
Because if you’d rather NOT live the next 4 years under illary, well shouldn’t that be reason enough?
Yes, I know. He always treats me like Peter Lorre in ‘M’ - hunched, poor and drooling!
“Well, at least Ted Cruz stayed above the fray and didn’t act 10x worse than Trump ever could on his worst day.”
I guess you weren’t paying attention.
“Cruz is certainly more of a constitutional purist than Trump”
I can’t believe that meme is still echoing around conservative cyberspace, when there’s no objective evidence to back it up.
Ted Cruz has done exactly one thing to even remotely earn the title, ‘consistent conservative’, and that was his filibuster against Obamacare. In retrospect, knowing everything we know about Ted now, it looks more like a grandstanding act to establish his conservative bona fides in preparation for running for higher office.
“but very little on how he will do it...”
Only an idiot thinks a candidate must have a 10,000 how-to document presented during a campaign, as though their candidate has done so.
For me it was when Ted called Trump voters ‘low-information.’ I couldn’t believe he would pull that but he did. He’s a creep.
Exactly. Just one reason: Ms. Hillary.
