One question: If you hate the GOPe” so much you want to destroy the only party that can meaningfully oppose liberalism, why didn’t you at least pick an intelligent conservative who could articulate our views instead of this offensive fool?

And yes, I will hold my nose ( and close my eyes and plug my ears) and vote for him. Anyone but Clinton.

That's really a question for millions of Republican voters, most of whom are conservatives. The answer is simple, we need a candidate who can win, and none of the other conservative candidates could fight and win against the politically correct, leftist supporting media and whoever ends up being the Democratic party candidate.

Trump has already shown that he isn't going to get trapped by the same mindset and behavior that cost McCain and Romney the elections in 2008 and 2012. Romney was too timid to even speak up to correct Candy Crowley. Trump simply trashed the first news reporter to attempt the same kind of attack on him.

Of course he seems offensive, you have been programmed to believe that speaking your mind or refuting leftist dogma is "hate speech", "offensive", "unacceptable", "not who we are" and so forth. Its time to reverse that programming and reclaim political dialog. Trump is a good start.

I believe Trump is quite a bit more intelligent than you understand.

The GOP has no objective evidence of conservative success in recent memory. The Party voted for Obama’s budget when Ryan came in as Speaker. Can you homestly say the Republican party “opposes” the Democrats? Really?

I believe you are suffering from “battered conservatibe syndrome:”
https://theconservativetreehouse.com/2016/01/06/battered-conservative-syndrome-gope-apology-and-reconciliation-phase-begins/comment-page-1/

The current GOPe is not on your side and WILL NOT HELP YOU.

Even Cruz, who my wife and I gave hundreds of dollars to (first time ever to a candidate), would have been an ineffectual man in office. From an earlier post this morning:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/3428527/posts?page=12#12

“Well, with Rush continuing in his second and third hours yesterday to say that conservatives need to look into why conservatism continues to fail (when selecting Trump), I can tell a ton of otherwise intelligent people are clueless.

There are no so-called “Conservatives” that can evade both liberal and GOPe criticism and their reticence to make positive change. Cruz was rendered ball-less with the ignoring of his fellow senators to anything he spoke. Cruz did nothing in the Senate and didn’t even have a real filibuster to his credit. He voted for cr@p - making sure Iran got $150 BILLION sent to its most extreme people. He voted to release the TPA (and campaigned for many, many months about how it MUST PASS). He pushed for a 500% increase in legal immigration. And he was our “best” example of of d@mn conservative!

Trump ignores the criticism and violently clubs idiots into submission. He follows much of what we believe conservatives should stand for, but in our lives, no “conservative” ever shows they give a darn.

Cruz is, and was, a completely impotent man—well-intended, but completely ineffective. He was a lawyer fighting like a lawyer. He had no substantive examples of his work, save for talking before the Supreme Court. He has no legislative successes, save for talking overnight when it didn’t even qualify as a filibuster.

I gave to Cruz, but I support Trump.

Go Trump!!”

We need someone like Trump to clear the way for someone like Cruz to have a chance to accomplish anything good.

That's just how I see it.

Please pardon my few typos in the immediately prior post. I’m doing this on a phone today.

Cruz’s campaign was: Vote for me because I am carrying the purest conservative ideology around inside my brain. Never mind the piercing nasal voice, the greasy face and hair, and the anguished, hang-dog expression, and the lies about my citizenship, and Trump’s positions, and my finances, and my two decades as a Bush lackey.

Who’d you have in mind, this intelligent conservative you suggest? I’m being serious.
