Dear Freepers
Basil, suffered a stroke in early January. It left her paralyzed on her right side and unable to speak. She's got very limited speech and her mental faculties are diminished. She spent many weeks in a therapeutic hospital but when it became apparent that her condition wouldn't improve, our family decided she'd be much happier at home. Hopefully we can minimize her suffering and keep her comfortable. Please pray for her, and Mr. Basil who is an amazing care giver and hasn't left her side.

I am so very sorry to hear about Basil, what a wonderful picture! Several years ago I was quite close to death, and through the Grace of God, the exceptional care from my family, and another wonderful family who donated their loved one’s liver and kidney to me, I am still here. And the prayers that came were amazing. Miracles happen! I remember times when I could hear the doctors and my family talking to me, and wanted to speak back but could not. I do hope there is a way for her to benefit from a breakthrough treatment, as posted above. Prayers for Basil, and the entire family, it’s a very large challenge you all have, and don’t fail to get help. Maybe read some of her old posts to her, and remind her of all who miss her and are praying for her. We never really know what is perceived when people can’t easily respond.

Pesto, very sorry about your mom. I lost my mother over 30 years ago and can say that is a very great loss. Much love & prayers to you & your family, that the Lord embrace you with His love and comfort.

Dearest Basil is probably rehashing Free Republic good times with The Sarce (Marcie) who I also fondly remember from back then.
