Evolution: The enemy of reason. If our minds were not designed, why would we trust them?

Monkey minds

How evolution undercuts reason and science

by Keaton Halley

Published: 5 May 2016 (GMT+10)

If our minds were not designed, why would we trust them?

Atheists routinely style themselves as champions of reason and science, and they view evolutionary theory as a triumph of both. Indeed, they believe that evolution helps them to explain features of the world that would otherwise be inexplicable. As Richard Dawkins put it, “Darwin made it possible to be an intellectually fulfilled atheist.”1 Ironically, however, evolution cannot possibly bear this burden, because if evolution were true it would undermine our confidence in human rationality. While Christianity has the resources to account for reason, the atheistic paradigm self-destructs. The contrast can be seen by comparing what each worldview says about the origin and composition of human beings.

Oh, and to top it all off, if the mind were designed, why are there people with mental defects or disorders?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Why do cars (which, as far as I know, were indeed designed) break down and leave you beside the road?
“Oh, and to top it all off, if the mind were designed, why are there people with mental defects or disorders? ...”etc...
Boilerplate stuff, but nonsensical.
I guess your car never broke down.
Your proposition is the equivalent of the static organizing itself into a coherent broadcast.
Non-sequitur. Neither the static nor the broadcast are part of the radio.
Actually they are the same thing (assuming “from nothing” you mean from non- living matter).
No, the informed evolutionists have always conceded their inability to produce a workable model for abiogenesis. They pick up from the point of life and pretty much ignore anything before.
That is the context of my statement.
Darwin was one of many. With the latest genetic analysis, evolution is obviously God’s method of creation.
But design vs evolution refers specifically to intelligent design wherein, I think, both ID’ers and Darwinists agree there is a dichotomy.
Some of them do. I've never heard a reasonable explanation from either side for why there must be a dichotomy, the just insist it must be there.
Because why wouldn’t we? And have you noticed how lucrative the psychological and self help industries are? Maybe we really don’t.
“What I said was: Reason, as used in the original article, is a perfectly valid survival characteristic, in that humans who are unable to reason would not be likely to procreate.”
Your response is quite long.
Let’s just look at the above.
What evidence do you have for this?
And, again, if you are citing “reason” as a tangible definable objective trait inheritable and assignable within phenotype, and presumably genotype, you need to define it to even begin to approach evaluating your hypothesis that “humans who are unable to reason would not be likely to procreate”.
Creationism is the use of science to refute liberalism.
The purpose of this 'flesh' age, which has a time signature placed. Only those that refused to take this flesh journey have already been judged and received the death sentence of their 'soul/spirit intellect'. God so 'loved' the world that He gave His only begotten Son... And God did not use evolution as His vehicle for Him to come in a flesh body. It is not about whether He could or could NOT it is about what He did and why.
Conflating faith and reason doesn't make them interchangeable.
How is it not? Evolution can not be separated from creation.
Evolution is modification within limits. It's never been shown to cross a species barrier. In addition, it does not supply an explanation for first cause - i.e. the very beginning of life itself.
Evolution-as-creation is ultimately based on the idea of consciousness springing from complexity alone, a thoroughly baseless theory derived through conflating consciousness with measurable awareness.
Of course! God designed the universe and evolution was his plan.
Non-sequitur. Neither the static nor the broadcast are part of the radio.
Hardly. By your own admission, radio was designed, and it was designed in tandem with broadcast. Static is the environment the radio and broadcast operate in.
Reason is a massive survival advantage. Because it let’s you understand that what is true today is true again tomorrow. It let’s you notice that the area around that tree flooded during the rain so it’s probably not a good place to shelter from the next rain storm. It let’s you understand that the berries on that bush made you puke so you probably shouldn’t eat them anymore. It’s what let’s you not be my cats when the wife is out of town hurrying into the bedroom in the morning expecting to find her even though she didn’t go into the bedroom last night. It allows you to process the past to predict the future and plan accordingly.
AFAIK, there is only evidence of speciation, e.g. dog breeds, "Darwin's finches", etc.
There is no evidence for variation outside the the Biblical "kinds", which might very well be the taxonomic classification of family.
Hey, everybody gets to make their choices. There is no plausible cause for evolution, but some are hooked on it.
