PESHAWAR, Pakistan - Pakistani police on Thursday arrested 15 members of a tribal council accused of ordering the burning alive of a young girl for helping a couple to elope in a so-called "honour killing", police said.
The 16-year-old girl was set on fire last week in the town of Donga Gali, about 50 km (30 miles) northeast of the capital, Islamabad, on the orders of the council, said district police chief Saeed Wazir.
Police said the honour killing was ordered as punishment for what the council deemed irreparable damage to the village's reputation. The couple appeared to have escaped.
The girl's mother and brother were also arrested, Wazir said, as they were present during the meeting and allegedly agreed to the sentence.

Tell me again that these people don’t need to be brought to Jesus and become Christians. Christians are far from perfect, yet this kind behavior, burning an innocent girl to death, is considered unacceptable and a young couple in love would be forgiven for running away to marry and parents and family would have fellow Christians telling them to forgive if they were finding it difficult to do so.
This only happens in Muslim societies but of course it has nothing to do with Islam. (Do I really need to put a sarcasm label here?)

I’m amazed they didn’t take the opportunity to gang rape her in typical Religion of Peace fashion before murdering her. There must be enough young boys in that village to satisfy the “elders.”
