Election 2016: After vowing to kill coal jobs, Hillary Clinton is now trying to recast herself as Sissy Spacek in Coal Miners Daughter. But coal workers aint buying it, and shes hearing their wrath while campaigning in West Virginia.
At a CNN town-hall-style forum in March, Clinton asserted: Were going to put a lot of coal miners and coal companies out of business.
Coal country hasnt forgotten the threat from the Democratic front-runner.
A laid-off coal miner earlier this week confronted Clinton over her derogatory statement during a campaign stop in West Virginia, which holds its Democratic primary May 10.
I just want to know how you can say youre going to put a lot of coal miners out of jobs, and then come in here and tell us how youre going to be our friend...
...Trump, now the presumptive GOP nominee, pounced on Clintons growing weakness in Appalachia.
I watched her three or four weeks ago when she was talking about the miners as if they were just numbers and she was talking about how she wants the mines closed and she will never let them work again, Trump said after winning Indiana.
Let me tell you: The miners in West Virginia and Pennsylvania, which was so great to me last week, and Ohio and all over, theyre going to start to work again, believe me, he vowed. Youre going to be proud again to be miners.
Ohio and Pennsylvania voted for Barack Obama in both the 2008 and 2012 presidential elections. But if miners there scorn Clinton like they are in West Virginia and Kentucky, Democrats could suffer a reversal of fortune in the region that could be the pivotal factor in this election.

Their original rational was if they showcased ‘what a buffoon’ he was, the people would turn against him. Now that Trump's the presumptive nominee the press has pivoted - gloves are off and they'll attack him non-stop.
And yes, I know Hannity is an exception.
No, she is still breathing. If they shot at her, most of them would not have missed.
“Stunning how out of touch politicians can really be.” Ain’t it though! coming from the woman who hasn’t driven a car herself in 30 years or so...
Yeah, Hillary wants to put Solyndra II in West Virginia - since it worked out so well for California.
She has said she will continue owhat’shisnames policies. That’s all ANYONE needs to know.
Greta didn’t get it either. Greta could not grasp why the miners would not want to change careers or why they would see government job training/career services as a hand out. She also could not grasp that we still need the coal powered generators because solar and wind is not creating enough power to begin to replace coal at this point.
I wonder how Greta would like it if someone told her we no longer need TV personalities? Would she like to be told she would lose her job, be retrained and have a new career? With no input from her even asked for during the process?
The spokesman for the coal miners also pointed out there are no other jobs in that area to retrain for; they would have to relocate and what about their homes? No one would buy their homes. Some are not only are coal miners but own small businesses in the area, or their spouse does or spouses work jobs that are not mining jobs. What about that, the whole economy of the area would tank? Hillary’s plan has no answers for these people but they shouldn’t be angry.
Greta could not figure out why the miners were not willing to just go along with it.
Sux to B U Hill!!!
And this doddering ol fool will be making many more similar mistakes.
Simple answer: They’re both socialists and, by definition, don’t understand or even acknowledge the laws of economics. Like their fellow traveler Bill O’Reilly, their first question when faced with a dilemma is, “What’s the government gonna do about it?!” If any of them had a lick of sense, they’d know the first and best answer to that question is, “Get the hell out of the way!”
BTW, Read your profile and love the anecdote about your mom and dad - priceless!
This woman has serious mental issues. To say Hitlery is a socio-path would be an understatement.
