Hillary Clinton Eats Crow Over Coal Comments
Investors Business Daily ^ | May 5, 2016 | Editorial

Election 2016: After vowing to kill coal jobs, Hillary Clinton is now trying to recast herself as Sissy Spacek in “Coal Miner’s Daughter.” But coal workers ain’t buying it, and she’s hearing their wrath while campaigning in West Virginia.

At a CNN town-hall-style forum in March, Clinton asserted: “We’re going to put a lot of coal miners and coal companies out of business.”

Coal country hasn’t forgotten the threat from the Democratic front-runner.

A laid-off coal miner earlier this week confronted Clinton over her derogatory statement during a campaign stop in West Virginia, which holds its Democratic primary May 10.

“I just want to know how you can say you’re going to put a lot of coal miners out of jobs, and then come in here and tell us how you’re going to be our friend...

...Trump, now the presumptive GOP nominee, pounced on Clinton’s growing weakness in Appalachia.

“I watched her three or four weeks ago when she was talking about the miners as if they were just numbers and she was talking about how she wants the mines closed and she will never let them work again,” Trump said after winning Indiana.

“Let me tell you: The miners in West Virginia and Pennsylvania, which was so great to me last week, and Ohio and all over, they’re going to start to work again, believe me,” he vowed. “You’re going to be proud again to be miners.”

Ohio and Pennsylvania voted for Barack Obama in both the 2008 and 2012 presidential elections. But if miners there scorn Clinton like they are in West Virginia and Kentucky, Democrats could suffer a reversal of fortune in the region that could be the pivotal factor in this election.

Good Morning More or Less!

Yesterdays investments got nicked all around w/ major stock indexes down a % (albeit in falling volume) and metals saw more profit taking (albeit w/ trading back up this AM).   It's confusing w/ metals as traded prices are up and futures are -1.15%;  and just like stock futures may look like -0.54% there; over here the contracts don't look all that bad.

Yesterday's econ reports were also mixed as productivity fell but Factory Orders came up.   Today's 'claims day':

7:30 AM Challenger Job Cuts
8:30 AM Initial Claims
8:30 AM Continuing Claims
10:30 AM Natural Gas Inventories

Everyone's invited to join me at this other thread (Which Donald Trump Did Republicans Just Hand The Nomination To?) but I'm posting the investment ping here and not there because it might end up getting pulled by the admin...

Bernie reportedly has an 8 point lead over the Hildabeast, I expect that to increase between now and Tuesday.

If not for the "super delegates", Bernie would have a chance at the nomination.

After he wins WV and all the other states he has won by direct voting, I hope the residents of these states don't forget how rigged the democratic system is for party insiders.

I wonder if she'll have to pick him for VP?

My kids are either global warmers, they don't want to talk about it, or both. What they really don't want to talk about w/ regard to warming is well, actual temperatures.

Going to try real hard, I'm working up here in Morgantown today, it's an 8 hour drive to Charleston if I really hammer it down I-77 (I made it in 7 hours 50 minutes on one occasion) if I can get out of here in the next few hours, I'm damn sure gonna try. Put that new Escort Max 360 detector to good use and of course the ol' CB will be squawking, lol

I just saw a news article on Facebook: Yoko Ono says she had sex with
Hillary in the 70s. Let’s see her deny this.
Ono must have rocks in her head.

I'm not 100 percent sure he would accept.

Barry flat out said in 2008 that he’d bankrupt the coal industry. And he still got elected. Twice. Go figure.

I know there are a lot of patriotic Americans in WV, but for the life of me I don’t understand how they can be hoodwinked by the likes of Manchin and Tomblin. They just don’t get that a Rat is a Rat, no matter what they tell you every 4-6 years to get re-elected.

Not just the wonderful citizens of WV. We are all “hoodwinked” by lies and pleadings from politicians of every stripe, every day. We are just like the prettiest girl in school, as soon as they get what they want, they have no more use for us..and brag to their friends how easy we are..every time.

It’s part of their Gaia religion. It is a mystery that must not be questioned.
