Trump's win comes after GOP refused to listen to what actual voters wanted populist policies with conservative core

I believe, however, that this defeat will sharpen their thinking, and that going forward they will not be so willing to trust that everything will work out. And some of them, at least, will come to see that our nation is in severe peril, that the dreams of free trade and open borders have not delivered what they promised, and that we need to try something else. If this happens, the Trump movement can lead to a new and stronger conservatism and our best days really will be ahead of us.
I think they’re going to “double down,” which is what the DC UniParty does when ordinary people don’t go along with their pipe dreams (pipe dreams which always seem to result in lots of taxpayer money getting spent on themselves).
They’re going to switch their allegiance to Hillary, because she is the UniParty candidate of choice, and always was.
” the dreams of free trade and open borders have not delivered what they promised,”
Well he certainly has the gift of understatement.
Build that damn wall and while you’re at it: build a damn wall of tariffs.
It won’t START a trade war, it will finally get us fighting the one that has been waged UPON us for years.
Bump!
The key to unifying the GOP will be to persuade conservatives that he really is conservative. But you’d think that if he had it in him he’d already have done that.
Rush is going to give himself a hernia trying to twist out of his tacit and not so tacit support for the Lyin’ King. He has wrapped himself in Gordian Knot. Best laugh I’ve had all week.
Amen and amen
Perfectly stated.
I will hold my nose and vote for Trump and I will pray we (GOP conservatives) have not been fooled again.
If that scenario comes true then all the members of the Cheap Labor Express are going to take it up the shorts financially. Don’t look for them to go down without a struggle.
Read his two policy books and his position papers. Perhaps you will come away thinking differently than you do now
Thank you so much!!
I got her membership a couple weeks ago and today’s program she mentions this Article.

Trump was already doing that. For example, Trump and Cruz went head to head in Indiana, and Trump got more conservatives. Some of the GOP does not want a conservative so you will not unify them with conservatism. Others know Trump is a conservative but were playing politics in the primary claiming Trump is a liberal like Hillary. Now that the primary is over they will come around. Trump will unify most of the GOP.
The people behind the GOPe are interested in one thing and one thing only, and that is their remuneration. End of story. They could not care less about the fate of the country. I agree with you, they will pile all-in for HRC. And I sure hope DT vets his advisors very, very carefully and sets traps for spies, because they will be there.
These folks take down multiple millions working in the cesspool of Washington and this is what defines them. They LOSE that money if they start supporting people like Trump who are outsiders.
You would think that, wouldn’t you?
“Others know Trump is a conservative “
Best laugh I have had in a while.
NOT!!!!!!!
I have no doubt any of us here at FREEP could run the country better than 99% of the idiots inside the Beltway. We are the smart people; they, however sarcastically, are the smart people. I’m sure there is some acronym we could invent for SMART that would be perfect.
They make me sick.

No. The key is in convincing those 1989 conservatives that it isn’t 1989 anymore. But if they were capable of living in the present, they’d have already done that.
