A state that Rubio LOST during the primaries... Rubio’s stock has fallen greatly since he first was elected to office. In a year when the electorate on both sides of the aisle are clearly against the establishment, Rubio would be a poor choice. Kasich would be a better choice that Rubio, at least Kasich has proven he can carry his home state.
I Know the conventional wisdom would say pick someone who bolsters you in places you are weak, and for Trump that would be someone that is viewed as part of the establishment.
I think however this would be a very very bad move for Trump, I think Trump needs to find someone who will compliment his “Enough is Enough” campaign. If he’s going to select a politician for a running mate he needs to find someone who’s been vocally fighting against the NWO/NEOCON for a long time, and has managed not to alienate everyone around them in the process. He’s also going to have to pick someone who can mesh with his style, not be overshadowed or intimidated by it.
Hillary is being pushed to the far far left by Sanders, she’s going to have a hard time mediating once the nomination is sealed for her, so she is likely going to be forced into a VP candidate that is far left... IE Warren or something like that that will appease the Bernie supporters and shore up her base... So whoever the VP pick for Trump is, they are going to have to be just as much of a presence as Trump tends to be, because Warren is a loud mouth shill and she will steamroll anyone who isn’t afraid to get in or right back in her face.
We’ll see how it plays out, but I think Trump will offer someone outside the box.

Rubio won South Florida. I’m no fan of Rubio but if he can help Trump take Florida that will go a long way to winning the general. Without FL it’s going to be real tough for Trump to win, IMO.
Rubio is currently 2nd in Hannity’s VP poll so far to Gingrich:

No way Trump can pick Cruz. He falsely branded him a liar so how can he pick a man he says is distrustful.
Kasich needed Ted to stay in the race to force the contested convention and provide him some cover for staying in. It became apparent that Ted wasnt going to be able to do that, so Ted dropped out. Without Ted, there is no hope for Kasich except free food.
Small ball, if you pick your VP because it simply “might help you in one state” you have lost. This Rovian view of elections has to end. You don’t concede half the map and then pray your GOTV will win you enough of 5 or 10 states to win.
Stupid small ball, and it worked to give us Bush in 2000, but it was just an approach of managing the decline.
Republicans need to be growing, and finally have a candidate who can and is expanding the party, stop thinking small ball.
