Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, abruptly suspending his Republican presidential campaign Tuesday night after another crushing primary defeat to Donald Trump, assured emotional supporters in Indiana that they helped grow an extraordinary movement declaring his team left it all on the field in their final push.
ADVERTISEMENT "It appears that path [to victory] has been foreclosed," Cruz told supporters in Indianapolis. "Together, we left it all on the field of Indiana. We gave it everything we've got, but the voters chose another path, and so with a heavy heart but with boundless optimism for the long-term future of our nation, we are suspending our campaign."
The underdog candidate, who all along had vowed to force Trump into a contested convention in July, stunned supporters by dropping out following a big loss in Indiana. Some people in the crowd could be seen crying and hugging each other.
But Cruz indicated he has no plans to fade away.
I am not suspending our fight for liberty, Cruz said.

In that cultural heritage, you will find, if you but care to look, profound Faith in a living God, acknowledged over and over again in our foundational documents; in the recorded words of our Foundning Fathers, and in the responsive actions of their compatriots.
excellent post, thank you
How and when will his delegates be ‘reassigned’?
“We’ve put social issues, morality, and G-d A-mighty on the back burner...G-d help us all.”
I don’t think God is going to help a nation that has turned its back on Him. We are not Israel, but the principle remains the same:
“Israel, you brought this on yourself
You deserted me, the Lord your God, while I was leading you along the way.
What do you think you will gain by going to Egypt to drink water from the Nile?
What do you think you will gain by going to Assyria to drink water from the Euphrates?
Your own evil will punish you, and your turning from me will condemn you.
You will learn how bitter and wrong it is to abandon me, the Lord your God...”

I hope I am wrong. I’ll be joining with others tomorrow to pray for America...but that prayer will acknowledge that we need to repent.

Hard to believe this once happened:
“The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people of all faiths to pray for our nation. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman.”
In agreement. United prayer of the elect and the Word of God are our best weapons we’ve been given.
“Full speech is worth listening to. Something of the Ted I used to admire shone through.”
I think he lost himself along the way. Politics does that - power and ego combine and change people. He probably had incredible pressure from donors.
now that it’s over, he’ll likely regret some of his actions.
And return to who he was, hopefully.
No, no congratulations. Not very classy.
“Trump just tried to tie him to the JFK assassination, for cripes sakes”
Really...
Of you people can’t even be bothered to know what you are talking about, how do you have the time to fake the outrage?
Again, that's BS. Trump was on the news wanting to know why the media hadn't run with the National Enquirer story linking Cruz's father with Oswald and the Kennedy killing. If Trump didn't believe it then he wouldn't have raised it. I don't blame Cruz at all for responding the way he did.
That Trump has now embraced Cruz as a force for good was made very clear in his victory speech last night.
I highly doubt that Trump's lame and insincere comments will do anything to smooth things over between the two.
But enough of this. The two candidates are making peace, now. That peace is in all of our interests. Let's move on to the task of returning America to her heritage.
And if you truly believe that the candidates are making peace then I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you. It will be, at best, a cold war. But I do not believe for a moment that Cruz will come out against Trump or won't eventually issue some kind of endorsement for Trump. Cruz will do nothing to aid Hillary.
Did Cruz congratulate Trump? No!
Nah...don’t have cable...count on good Freepers for some research...thanks. cartwheels, eh?
You won’t win too many people to your way of thinking with that kind of talk.
But if you just want to be a disrupter, have at it.
“Bla bla bla c-ya lyin loser. No one will forget the nasty person you are who lacks character.”
But enough about Donald Trump, the admitted serial philanderer.
Okay, thanks for your reply.
Thanks for posting that. I think Cruz is morally upright and has conservative ideals. He did not deserve the treatment he got from my friends here.
That said, his campaign style and delivery came across as creepy. IMHO, that’s what did him in not Donald Trump. If Cruz had a charasmatic personality, he would’ve done much better.
But he doesn’t and he didn’t.
If Donald Trump is as smart as my friends say, he should put Cruz on SCOTUS.
It basically demonstrates my precise points.
But if you want to keep the rancor flowing, I will not cooperate with your effort. Conservatives need to concentrate their fire on the Left, not on each other.
