Three new cases of the Zika virus were confirmed in Florida today, bringing total there to 99, state health officials say.

The new cases were reported in Martin and Palm Beach counties, and there was also one case of a pregnant woman. The state’s health department does not stipulate the county in the case of pregnant women. State health officials also extended its Declaration of Public Health Emergency to include Martin County.

Of the cases reported in Florida, three people are still exhibiting symptoms. Symptoms include rash, fever and joint pain. Symptoms of the virus last between seven to 10 days. Latest News Update Get Newsmax TV At Home »

Special:

The first U.S. death caused by the virus has occurred in Puerto Rico, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The victim, who was in his 70’s, died from internal bleeding, but the case was just attributed to a rare immune reaction to the infection, officials said. Puerto Rico now has 683 confirmed cases.

The total number of Zika cases within the continental United States remains at 426, the CDC said last week. All of the cases are travel related; none have been locally acquired, the agency said.

” As a Lyme survivor and well educated on the subject, I can say that the disease is terrible to deal with but 100% curable, and rarely deadly.”

And as a chronic Lyme sufferer, I beg to differ that it is not 100% curable because it is OFTEN misdiagnosed for years from anything like chronic fatigue to MS, to ALS and Parkinsons. You must get your info from the cdc who have many docs on the insurance and pharmaceutical doles and it is to their benefit to “ignore” this deadly disease.

Read the article … all cases are in people that have traveled. It’s not in the mosquitos in Florida … yet (as far as we can tell).

They must be using some kind of powerful mosquito killer in my area. We have had flooding all winter, I live on the bank of a large creek which is more of a small river and there is all kind of standing water around here but other than seeing a few mosquitos some weeks back I have not been bothered. I was working outside today and was not even buzzed once. I expected to be using everything available to keep them away by this time of year.
